The Friends of Duane Park will close Duane Street on Sunday, Sept. 15, starting at noon, for its third annual end-of-summer birthday party for friends and neighbors. From noon to 3p will be a free public event, with music and snacks. Check-in for the ticketed dinner party for 175 is from 4 to 5p; seating starts at 6p. The entire event concludes at dusk.
This year’s meal will be prepared by the Chambers Street Peruvian restaurant Artesano and the event will be sponsored by Tribecan Amy Bergman Bonomi of Compass. Other businesses participating are Duane Park Patisserie, Tribeca Wine Merchants, Laughing Man Café, Mary Giuliani Catering & Events, American Express and 60 Hudson Owner LLC.
Tickets go on sale here on Saturday, June 1, at 9a and are $500 per guest, with a maximum purchase of two tickets; advance sale packages of six tickets are available now for $6,000. For general and corporate sponsorship inquiries, please contact benefit@duanepark.org.
This year marks the park’s 227th birthday — in fact the event was created to be a one-and-done celebration for the 225th, but it was so popular that the Friends have kept it going. Last year rain drove the party indoors to 60 Hudson, but there was still a great view over the park.
I would love to go. Its just not affordable to the average person.
Affordable, racially diverse gathering … harkening back to a time when America was GREAT!! I can be found munching leftovers in the shade of the London plane trees after the hedge fund friends are done for the night 🙌🏿
