Seen & Heard: Local playground patches

LOCAL PLAYGROUND PATCHES
Thought these were super cute — saw them on J’s Instagram. They are called Our Play Patches and seem to only have a presence on IG, and you DM them to order a patch. They have all the local hotspots: Teardrop, Hudson River Park, Washington Market Park (which they call the red playground).

NEW ALBUM FROM DRUMMER ROBBY AMEEN
Longtime Tribecan and jazz drummer Robby Ameen, who has been hosting jazz concerts at Philip Williams Posters on Chambers over the past several years, just released new album titled…”Live at the Poster Museum.” That’s the trailer above. The album, which also features Bob Francheschini, Conrad Herwig, Troy Roberts, Edsel Gomez and Lincoln Goines, was filmed over several sessions in the store. More info here.

CLIMATE WEEK EVENTS THIS WEEK
I don’t have a grip on all these events for Climate Week NYC, but see the website here to dig around if this is your kind of thing. Governors Island has all sort of events; see the list here. BPC sent a note and they will be hosting a beekeeping tour tomorrow at 1:30 in Rockefeller; a tour of their compost facility on Wednesday, register here; and a nature walk on Thursday at 10:30, meet at 6 River Terrace.

SHADES OF LIGHT AT GALERIE56
Galerie56 at 56 Leonard is showing Shades of Light, a group show and collaboration with Sarah Myerscough Gallery on view through November 6. There are Katrien Doms’ undulating softwood sculptures, a monumental wall hanging by artist Lin Fanglu, Gareth Neal’s 3D-printed Natural Sand Collection of vessels, and Czech artist Tadeas Podracky’s exploration of traditional relief carving techniques, among others.
