FOUNDRAE ADDS A MADISON AVENUE LOCATION
Tribecan Beth Hutchins has opened an uptown location (Madison and 68th) for her jewelry store FoundRae, which she first opened here in 2018. (She also has locations in Dallas and LA.) Vogue reported that she got to know the UES when her daughter began attending school uptown: “We all have egos,” she told Vogue. “I thought everyone comes downtown—and then all of a sudden I realized, well, a lot of people don’t. There’s a whole other world up here that really has a lot of creativity and an interest in art and craftsmanship.”
LUNCH BOX FESTIVAL AT FOSUN PLAZA
The Downtown Alliance will host the Third Annual Lunch Box Pop-Up Food Fair on October 8, 11:30a to 2:30p to 28 Liberty’s Fosun Plaza. The event will feature $10 boxed lunches from 10 of Lower Manhattan’s newest restaurants, including All’Antico Vinaio, Caravan Uyghur Cuisine, Goku Kitchen, and more. Each box includes one main dish (protein) and two sides, with drinks available for an additional cost. Public admission is free, and the event will take place rain or shine. More info here.
LUCIFER LIGHTING CELEBRATES 45 YEARS
In case you were wondering why there was a mariachi band on Jay Street, it was to celebrate Lucifer Lighting‘s 45th anniversary. The company is out of Texas and their engineers built a custom BBQ smoker in San Antonio and drove it up here just for the occasion.
