A huge win for the Tribeca Design District: the noted interior designer and television personality Kathy Kuo has taken a space at 161 Hudson just south of Laight — right up the street from Abhaya, Egg Collective,and Officine Gullo, the Italian kitchen designers. Thanks to B. for the heads-up.

Her office confirmed that this will be an interior design showroom for her company, Kathy Kuo Home. (It will not be a traditional retail store with a cash-and-carry assortment.) The official opening is early November.

This is the space that was scheduled to be a cannabis dispensary and neighbors rallied against it with vigor. Not sure how the landlord then pulled off this coup so quickly…

Kuo is a longtime city resident but she lives uptown, so we are lucky she picked Tribeca for what is her first physical showroom space. She has a warehouse in North Carolina.
