New Kid on the Block: Little More

A big Tribeca welcome to Little More, which opened in the former Ward III space last week — a great addition to the streetscape and the bar scene. It’s just a comfort to have the lights on again on that corner of Reade and West Broadway, plus: happy hour. Oh and another plus: the neon BAR sign outside was giving me those Ear Inn and Raccoon Lodge warm-and-fuzzies.

I will go back to sample the food (we were headed to Max and Walker’s respectively) and to reveal a surprise (can’t give any more detail other than to say there is a neon snake involved), but it checked my boxes: good beer selection on tap, huge cocktail list (that’s my pal’s negroni, below), a simple wine list that started at $11 a glass, vibey cross-generational music that was not blasting, very comfortable bar seats, a rail for us short people and hooks underneath the bar for purses (my litmus test).

Plus there’s an excellent catbird seat in the window for watching the world go by.

The bar is the third (or fourth?) for owner Aron Watman: he also has The Folly on Houston (love) and used to have the Brooklyneer on Houston (also love) and also had Hill & Dale on Allen Street. He was thinking a nautical theme for this spot, then he saw Holywater across the street so he toggled to “upscale but approachable” and seems to have hit it.

There’s more to come: there will be special casks and bottles that patrons can purchase and reserve, club style, up high over the bar.

That’s bartender Alan Crombie below — stop in and say hi.

  1. Oh Yay, looking forward to checking it out..

  2. We need a hardware store in the neighborhood.

  3. You are so right, Ms. Goldberg. And lots of other mom and pop shops, all now a thing of the past.

A vacant space? How about a gym? How about another child day-care center?

  4. welcome to our town!
