Seen & Heard: March Madness games at Brookfield

MARCH MADNESS AT BROOKFIELD
Brookfield Place will host Hot Shots, a free game series with carnival hoops for all ages, from Sunday, March 16, until Sunday, March 23, 11a to 7p, in the middle of the Winter Garden. Hudson Eats will also be showing the games on a big screen between March 18 and 23. All of it is free and open to the public.

LITTLE ENGINE THEATER ON THE LES
Tribecan Theodora Miranne, the co-founder of the new Little Engine Theater Company, has a show up now: COLD WATER, written by Philippa Lawford and directed by Michael Herwitz. It’s running from March 19 to April 9 at Ki Smith Gallery on the Lower East Side. Tickets here. The company also hosted a reading of the British play “The Wasp” at the design studio Rembaum Hanau. More soon on Theodora and the company.

COMPLETE CAFE OPENS ON BROAD
The folks who created the Complete Playground, the 45,000 square foot indoor play space on Broad, have opened the Complete Cafe, a family-friendly, interactive restaurant. The menu was overseen by Dima Martseniuk, formerly of Veselka and featured on Beat Bobby Flay, with an emphasis on organic ingredients and a nod to her Ukrainian roots. All food is baked, steamed or grilled (nothing is fried) and there are gluten-free and dairy-free options. The space also has interactive tables and touch-enabled surfaces for education and play.

TASTE OF TRIBECA IS MAY 17
I wanted to get Taste on my calendar for May — nothing seems to be announced yet, but the website says it takes place every year on the third Saturday in May, so that’s May 17. More soon when they start sending ticket info.
