Plans are filed for a condo highrise at 21 Park Place

Plans were filed last week for a new high rise residential building at 21 Park Place, the former Tent & Trails building that collapsed in 2018. The developers — Troy Realty Capital — promised to  share renderings when they are finalized.

BKSK Architects (which has tons of credentials in the Village) is listed on the filings for a 28-story condominium, 325 feet high. Construction will most likely start in the middle of next year.

The owners of Tent & Trails sold the building in July 2018 for $9 million, not long after the family business closed. And then in December 2018, 21 Park Place pancaked. “All that was left was the facade and the staircase, with the fire extinguishers still attached to the wall,” said Jamie Lipman, the owner of Tent & Trails, when I bumped into her on Long Island a couple of years ago. (More on the business here, if you want a trip down memory lane.)

The owner of 21 Park Place claimed in a lawsuit that the construction of 19 Park Place caused the collapse. The Iris, at #19, was completed in June 2018.
