An update on Mr Chow

The new restaurant that was scheduled to come before Community Board 1 with a liquor license application for the Mr Chow space has retreated and, according to the board staff, has been withdrawn from the agendas indefinitely.

That syncs with the word I had gotten from a reader that Mr Chow had extended its lease for another year. I am getting whiplash with this story — I will lay off of it until the lights go out at 121 Hudson! In March Mr Chow was staying and had renewed its license; by May there were signs up for a new branch of Olio e Più and here we are now.

Mr Chow has been on the corner of Hudson and N. Moore for two decades and in existence for nearly seven. Olio e Più, an Italian restaurant with three locations in the city, had posted signs on neighbors’ buildings and were on the agenda at CB1 for May.

Olio e Più went as far to have proposed hours and layouts for the space. Maybe they will resurface later?
