In the News: Snags in the resiliency efforts at Battery Park City

SNAGS IN THE BPCA RESILIENCY EFFORTS
The City Reporter has a story on two condo buildings that are holding out against plans for a flood wall in Battery Park City. From The City Reporter: “The BPCA needs easement agreements from five residential buildings along the waterfront to build the wall. But the authority and two of the buildings, Liberty House and Liberty Terrace, failed to settle on a deal after more than a year of negotiations.”

BIG FUNDING FOR A LOCAL TRAVEL BIZ
The B2B travel industry journal Travolution has a feature on Tribecan Henley Vazquez’s travel business Fora, which just raised $60 million in series D funding. The investment is to scale Via, its embedded AI assistant that is currently in beta mode. From Travolution: “The tool is designed to shoulder administrative tasks around selling travel – from destination research and supplier knowledge to itinerary building and proposal generation – automating part of the operational layer so advisors can spend more time on service, personalisation and client relationships.”

FORMER HARRY’S SPACE WILL GO FUSION
Crain’s reports that the owners of the Fidi restaurants Mezcali and The Malt House have taken the lease on the former Harry’s space at 2 Gold, on the corner of Maiden Lane, for an “elevated” Hawaiian-Caribbean-Asian fusion restaurant called Solerum. The space is 4700 square feet and is expected to open next summer.

80 CLARKSON FINISHES EXTERIOR WORK
Just because we generally track things near Pier 40 and along the river, Yimby has an update on 80 Clarkson, where the facade on the two towers is nearly complete. From Yimby: “The project consists of 37- and 45-story structures standing 420 and 490 feet tall, respectively. The $1.25 billion development will span approximately 650,000 square feet and yield 112 condominium units, nearly 37,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space, and a 69-vehicle parking garage.”
