Koh’s Kids, the children’s clothing store founded by Grace Koh in 1995 on Greenwich and Chambers, has closed permanently. It’s the end of an era. And after a morning talking to the sisters at Greenwich St. Jewelers (more on their 50th anniversary soon), it gave me a real pang to think of the sunset of the mom-and-pop here in the neighborhood. Grace, who lived upstairs and once insisted on repairing a crocheted poncho I had had for decades, retired in 2015. She sold it to Jared Levine of Jamari International, an importer/distributor of various high-end children’s fashion brands. (I am forgetting the name of her saleswoman, below, but she was the loveliest.)

That leaves Babesta on Warren; My Little Sunshine on Hudson and Hubert; The Little on Greenwich and Beach; and Naturino for shoes, which just moved around the corner to Chambers.

Baby Cottons just closed, and Jacadi and Livly closed in 2025; and Polarn O. Pyret closed in 2021.
