The folks converting 83 and 85 Chambers, above the Army recruiting office between Church and Broadway, sent some construction updates on the project, which started July 2025. The two 19th Century buildings in the Tribeca South Historic District will eventually include 16 residential units and ground floor commercial. The developer is United American Land, which owns tons of buildings in the neighborhood — especially along Canal.
The project will combine the two buildings while preserving their distinct façades. Completion and opening is anticipated in spring 2027.
The building goes through to Reade — 65 and 67 Reade are just west of Tre Sorelle.
The project will add mechanicals to the roof, remove the party wall to combine the two floor plans, add a courtyard between the two buildings down to the second floor to allow for light and air into the apartments. There will be no extension of the building or the addition of floors; they will remove the exterior fire escapes.
