••• The New York Times has an article on the battle over hydrofracking in New York State: “The activity on both sides of the debate is intensifying as New York conducts four public hearings across the state, beginning Nov. 16 in Dansville, a rural community in the Finger Lakes region, and winding up next week in Tribeca.” That would be at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center (199 Chambers, inside BMCC). Per the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation: “DEC’s four public hearings each have an afternoon and an evening session from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., respectively. Comments will be accepted in written and oral format at the hearings. Comments on the dSGEIS, draft regulations and the State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System General Permit for Stormwater Discharges can be submitted by mail and through the Web through Dec. 12.” You can also comment via this page.

A 911 caller reported the grisly discovery around 9:20 a.m. and the NYPD Harbor Unit took the victim to the North Cove Marina, where EMS workers pronounced him dead at the scene.
