In the News: Unstable Behavior

••• That man who died at Murray and Church the other night? It was the result of a fall. —Tribeca Trib

That was then

••• “The NYPD may have violated city landmarks laws and has created a nuisance for neighbors after it chopped out part of a brick wall at a historic former police stable to construct a staircase for a new entrance to the building, residents and officials said.” —DNAinfo

••• A reader sent over the New York Times obituary for pianist and theater composer Judd Woldin, explaining that he was a longtime Greenwich Street resident (who also played piano at Windows on the World for many years).

••• Korean taco restaurant Kortako opens today in FiDi (where else?). By the way, some people seem to call it “the FiDi,” which sounds wrong to me. But I’ll try to switch if people tell me it’s correct. —Midtown Lunch

••• I don’t watch TV unless I’m on an airplane, but I see that the new show “2 Broke Girls” is namechecking Tribeca. Here’s a synopsis of tonight’s (?) show from TVLine:  “Max and Caroline try to find Chestnut a job in order to get him lodging for the winter; Peach, the mother of the twins Max babysits, auditions for ‘Real Wives of Tribeca.'” One of my favorite bloggers, Molly McAleer, writes for the show, so maybe it’s funny.

••• Mediabistro says that radio station WCBS 880 has moved to a new Tribeca studio, 345 Hudson to be specific. I make mistakes all the time, but really, if it’s above Canal it can’t be in the Triangle Below Canal. Really, that’s the one border we can all agree on.

  1. Erik – 2 Broke girls is one of the funniest shows on TV!! You should definitely check it out.

  2. “i don’t watch tv unless i’m on an airplane”…..come on. why do people who claim they don’t watch tv feel the need to tell everyone about it constantly….? why?

  3. @Omar: Because we’re hoping everyone else will stop watching it, too, so the world can smarten up.

  4. that’s typically what i hear next, Erik, and that’s great if some choose not to watch tv, however, there is absolutely no correlation between smarts and watching tv! none. perhaps watch more efficiently (dvr) or just don’t watch a lot of mindless tv, but i promise you it won’t make you less smart to unwind with a 30 minute tv show or even to turn it on to watch something educational (dare I!)….or the dreaded ‘big game’. it should not effect how much one reads or does other ‘smart’ things if one manages one’s time appropriately. i know you’re a smart fellow and that wouldn’t change if i found out it was more then just on planes…
