Soup’s On!

restaurant-week-truck-by-tribeca-citizenThe New York City Restaurant Week Truck is parked outside Whole Foods, on Greenwich, for two days of selling soup. Today’s options are butternut squash from Tribeca’s own Capsouto Frères and tomato garbanzo from Black Duck (on E. 28th St.). For $6, you get soup, some bread from Tomcat Bakery, and a Coke, Diet Coke, or Coke Zero—actually, you can get the Coke products without the soup, as they’re giving them away to any and all. The folks working the truck were super (!) nice, but at 11:20 a.m. the soup still wasn’t hot enough for the truck to open, so I had to bail without trying it. (It’s cold today! In other words, I suppose, good for soup….) The hours are supposed to be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and tomorrow’s soups will be lobster bisque from Blue Water Grill and black bean from Pampano. There are a few cocktail-style tables set up outside the truck, if you want to eat there.
