••• Filmmaker Jard Skolnick’s new short film, The Earth Rejects Him, will premiere on Saturday at the Tribeca Grand: “A young boy discovers a corpse while biking in the woods, then faces unexpected and macabre consequences when he tries to bury it.” Tickets here. It will also be screened with his previous film, an adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s The Music of Erich Zann (“A young student becomes fascinated by the strange music of the eccentric violinist living above him, leading him to a terrifying discovery”), which you can also watch here.

••• It’s time for the Battery Conservancy’s plant sale (which ends Feb. 29): “The Battery Conservancy horticulture team will custom-propagate your orders from The Battery’s current four acres of perennial gardens […]. Most species will be propagated by division of the gardens’ mature plants, while a few others will be harvested as well-rooted seedling plants. Pint-size equivalent bare root divisions will be available in mid-March, while pint-size potted divisions will be available during the first week of May. All plants are available at $11 each.”

••• 66 [Thanks, Dave] 50-52 Laight (west of Hudson) has finally been unveiled, or so says a press release. (I’m actually out of town so I can’t go take a photo; if you live near there, send one to tribecacitizen@gmail.com and we’ll compare it to the rendering.) It’s being called Laight House, which will probably make more people think the street is pronounced “Light.” Sayeth the release: “Exclusive broker Fox Residential Group will begin showings as of February 13. There are five full-floor apartments ranging in size from 1945 sq. ft. to 2761 sq. ft. The duplex penthouse, approximately 4500 sq. ft., has arched windows and terraces, one measuring 540 sq. ft., the other 1400 sq. ft. providing river views. The commercial space measures 3919 sq. ft.” The architect is Suellen DeFrancis of SDDA.
