March 26, 2012 Restaurant/Bar News, Shopping
Wouldn’t it be awesome if someone—who preferred to remain anonymous—were to open a 2,200-square-foot European-style food hall right in the center of Tribeca? You know, like Grand Central Marketplace, but more attractive. It could lease out the stalls to big names—like Blue Bottle Coffee (a Bay Area favorite), Dickson’s Farmstand Meats (where some of us go for humanely raised meat), Cavaniola Cheese (the pride of Sag Harbor), Blue Marble Ice Cream (ice cream!), Nunu Chocolates, and Orwasher’s Bakery, as well as spaces for a fishmonger, a flower vendor, and area farms such as Lani’s and Do Re Mi. There could even be a bookstall—perhaps a collaboration with Tribeca’s own Seven Stories Press.
It could even have a 45-seat restaurant downstairs that resembles a Shaker meeting house. A restaurant where the food served primarily comes from the vendors upstairs (and diners could take recipes with them, go shopping upstairs, and recreate the dishes). It could even have a roof garden.
No need to pinch yourself, folks: It’s called All Good Things; it’s coming to 102 Franklin (between W. Broadway and Church), where the Biscuits & Bath doggy daycare was; and the food hall is opening in June/July, with the restaurant to follow in the fall.
UPDATE: This got picked up a bunch of places, which is great, but several have insinuated it’s a rumor or that it might not be happening (possibly because of the way I wrote it). It’s definitely happening.
P.S. You really should sign up for the Tribeca Citizen email newsletter—it comes out twice a week, and you can unsubscribe at any time. Just look for “Subscribe to the email newsletter” in the upper right corner, and enter your email address. Can more than 1,500 people be wrong? (Of course they can. But still.)

This is fantastic news … we so desperately need something like this.
(Still pinching!)
Hurray!
Fantastic news! I don’t know what I would do without TC!
OMG!! Think of all the stroller traffic jams that will be had!!! I am perpetually pinching myself!!!
great news
Wowza! That’s great news. Thanks for sharing it!!
booyah!
excellent news
This is exciting!
The best part is that it is the same building with SignExpo. :-)
This is FANTASTIC! We need fishmonger bc the selections at WF are terrible and overpriced.
Perfect place for a first date with Jim Smithers! Meet me at the ice cream stand.
Sounds great – though 2,200sq. ft doesn’t really sound big enough to comfortably house all of the vendors listed. Wish this had happened in the now-Sarabeth’s space instead.
Sooooo jealous! Why couldn’t we get something like this in Brooklyn Heights?!?
@StrollerlessMcHottie: Take a number, take a seat. Somebody will be with you shortly.
Oooh, Diskson’s! That would be convenient.
Dickson’s
JS, I’m first in line. For. You.
Why oh Why, can’t there be a TCQ&A on you? Perhaps to raise funds for TC?

@EriK: Can we do a security sweep? Starting with the civilians without strollers, then with strollers, then those still wearing UGGS, then those with pugs?
StrollerlessTribecaHottie = Buzz
At least I’ve never seen them both in the same place at the same time. Be afraid, Jim, be very afraid!
This is just beyond exciting, both the market and the restaurant! It sounds delicious (and pretentious but…delicious wins). All Good Things, you have yourself a patron-in-waiting!
Smithers & StrollerlessTribecaHottie, you made my morning laugh!
Thanks for sharing this is so exciting! I just wish it was opening sooner!
I only wish JS would take me seriously. This hottie does not wear UGGs!
@Strollersless”Hottie” – I am taking you seriously. SECURITY!! You should submit to a TC Q&A first. I am sure residents would appreciate your tips and advice how they too can become a “Hottie.”
@JS – I don’t share my “tips.” Too many eager Tribeca mommies waiting with baited breath, in between refueling their skinny lattes and pilates classes, while barking at their nannies. I’d rather eat “unhealthy” fried food at the newest hip “late” night places and watch the drama unfold.
Yeah, you and Sean Avery.
Fabulous!
I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS!!! This area desperately need another grocery option other than Whole Foods/Food Emporium. Let’s pray that it’s open past 8 PM 7 days a week!
@heather, how about maxdelivery.com as a grocery option? Can’t wait for Dickson’s Farmstand Meats as well.
@wayne – I prefer to pick out my own produce and read labels before I purchase, but Max is a good back up!
