IN THE NEWS
••• The New York Post looks into swag bags given out at kids’ parties, and quotes one Tribeca mother who detests the practice—but she “asked to remain anonymous for fear of offending other moms.” That’s called not having the courage of your convictions…. The article also quotes Jennifer Gilbert, CEO of Save the Date, a party-planning service, one of this season’s Real Housewives of New York City, and a Tribeca Citizen contributor. “Goody bags are ridiculous. My daughter is having a party next month with 80 kids, and I am not doing them. Instead, I’m giving a lollipop to each kid with a tag that says ‘In lieu of a goody bag, a $10 donation has been made in your name to Haiti relief!’”
courtesy-broadsheet-daily••• Battery Park City residents would like to see some of their own on the BPCA board. (I love this photo—taken by Broadsheet Daily editor Terese Loeb Kreuzer—that accompanied the Broadsheet Daily article…. It shows hows I feel when I’m in pretty much any meeting.)
••• The New York Times drops by a rehearsal of “Big Eater,” a dance by David Neumann—based on a Web video a few years back of a drunk David Hasselhoff trying to eat a burger—at Tribeca’s Battery Dance Company (although the Times called it the Battery Dance Studio).
••• Rohan Oza, “who is senior vice president of marketing at Glaceau Energy Brands, bought the three-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom condo at the deluxe Artisan Lofts at 143 Reade Street in Tribeca” for $5.27 million. (New York Observer)
