David Cleaver, who began organizing monthly Tribeca Meet and Greets almost four years ago, asked me to post an invitation to the next one. “I started to go to all these community meeting after 9/11,” says Cleaver, sales manager at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center. When someone suggested local businesspeople get together over drinks, he took matters into his own hands. “We used to meet at restaurants, but we grew too big. Now businesses ask to host us!” he says.
The next Meet and Greet is Thursday, July 30, at Valley National Bank (90 Franklin, at Church), from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It’s an open house, so you can stop by anytime. Here’s an excerpt from his invite: “For those who have not attended a Tribeca Meet and Greet, we have been meeting in a different Tribeca business about once a month. We’ve been able to exchange some ideas, do some networking, and have a drink with the neighbors. Just drop by and chat for a while and share a quick bit of the cheese and fruit that will be generously donated.” [This round is on Frankly Wines at 66 West Broadway.]
And if you can’t make it (as I’m afraid I can’t) then put the next one in your calendar (as I already have). It’ll be held Wednesday, August 26, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Art Institute of New York‘s gallery at 11 Beach Street.
