••• At this week’s Lower Manhattan Marketing Association meeting, I learned two interesting things: 1) The Sheraton Tribeca being built on Canal Street is now slated to open “sometime this fall”; and 2) City Councilwoman Margaret Chin believes that undeveloped World Trade Center land should be made temporarily into parks. Generally I like the idea of a pop-up park, but would anyone want to hang out around so much major construction?

••• Sunday and Monday at 8 p.m., Arts World Financial Center is screening animations by the artist William Kentridge in the Winter Garden, accompanied by the world premiere of new scores by Philip Miller, performed by Ensemble Pi and vocalist Tshide Manye, and Miller himself. It’s free.
