••• The space above B Flat that has been home to Ristorante Aglio, TriBeCafe, and Tokyo Bar is now a sake bar called Shigure. When I called last night, the owner said it’s in a soft opening. He invited me to a friends-and-family night tonight, so I’ll report back later on exactly when it’ll be fully open.
••• Manhattan Youth is accepting new, unwrapped donations at the Downtown Community Center for a “holiday clothing and toy drive” to support the Single Parent Resource Center. That doesn’t mean they want Christmas sweaters! What they do want: “New clothing and toys for teens and children (hats, scarves, gloves, coats, and age-appropriate toys like electronics, books, educational games, etc. New clothing for adults (Hats, scarves, gloves, and coats). To help direct gifts appropriately please try to label them with age, gender and size.”
••• I need at least one more shopdog or shopcat (or shoppig or shopgoat…) to do another post. Traditionally, these have been pets that “worked” in a consumer-facing business, such as a shop. But I think we can broaden it to any local office, but not if you work from home. Know a good candidate? Hit me at tribecacitizen@gmail.com.
••• More pieces of the 1 World Trade Center spire traveled down Greenwich last night and the night before, and Al, who took the last three of the photos below, says that another one will make its way tonight. “I’ll get to the top of 1 WTC again one day, but I’ll probably never get as close to the spire as I have tonight,” he emailed. (The first photo is by Andrea; the second is by SJW. They all get bigger is you click them—the last one, in particular, really looks good large.)

This is very exciting. What an opportunity to see the creation of something really big, up close!
