Like a lot of people, Liat Silberman would like to see some of the empty storefronts in Tribeca filled; unlike a lot of people, she and Pam Frederick are doing something about one of them. Starting April 26, their pop-up used-kid’s-clothing shop, Rondo, will take over the space at 74 Warren, next to Church Street School for Music and Art. It’ll be open weekdays, 8 a.m. to noon, or four weeks. They need your help, in either—or both!—of two ways:
• Donate any kids’ clothing or gear—sports equipment, baby paraphernalia, small furniture, even toys—as long as it’s in excellent condition. (How can you tell? Ask yourself if you’d buy it.) “We are collecting clothes from age zero to 12,” emailed Silberman. “If you can sort the clothes in advance, that would be help. For example, label each bag ‘boys 9 years,’ ‘girls 6 months,’ etc.” Stuff can be dropped off at the store when it’s open, or at Church Street School weekdays between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
• The second request is to donate your time—even busy you can spare four hours. “The shop will be run in pairs, so if you want, get a friend to do it with you,” said Silberman. “We’ve got 20 days to cover, so we think it’s doable with parent power. And, we think it will be fun.” Especially if you reward yourself with lunch at Warren 77 afterward—it’s right across the street! To enlist, email liat [at] albanyconsult [dot] com.
All proceeds will go to Church Street School, but you don’t need to be affiliated with the school to help or donate.
