••• River Lofts residents aren’t yet back in the buildings: “Mechanics were badly damaged and they had to figure out a way to rebuild to avoid another incident,” emails one. “Difficult as the mechanical system is for both buildings. Lobbies were badly damaged and have to be completely renovated. We are hoping for a mid-April return but not so confident.”
••• From M. M. Devoe: “Omg. Scaffolds down at refurbished Corbin entrance of Fulton subway hub. Gorgeous!”
••• From the Battery Conservancy: “On Saturday, April 20, from 11am-3pm, Battery Urban Farm celebrates Earth Day (and the start of Spring 2013 programming) with Earth Fest, a day of demonstrations, displays, crafts, and games to promote food, farming, and sustainability in our community. You can…. roll up your sleeves and build a new ‘fruit cage’ for the farm; impress your friends with your Recycling Game skills; inoculate a mushroom log (it’s safe, we promise); learn about rooting with your kids—and take a plant home;” and more.
••• From JCP Downtown: “Our online auction is up now at jcpdowntown.org/benefit with tons of great items up for bid such as gift certificates for Locanda Verde, Shibui Spa, SoulCycle, various hotel stays, etc. Thursday’s event will have silent and live auction items such as Amanresort packages, ‘priceless’ experiences like American Idol Finale tickets, and more, which can be bid on by emailing benefit@jcpdowntown.org.”
••• Debbie K. reports that she loved dinner at Greenwich Grill’s Kawabun pop-up (through Mar. 23): “My husband is very fussy about Japanese food, having lived in Japan (and for a year with a Japanese family who made everything), and he was impressed.”
