••• Moomah is applying for a liquor license. Can we expect Moojitos? Moomaritahs? Late-night drunken crafting? No. “We’re applying for a wine license so that stressed out moms can get a glass of wine with their lunch,” emailed owner Tracey Stewart in reply to my questions. “Also, we have birthday parties on Sunday afternoons and we’d love the adults to have almost as much fun as the kids. We won’t be open past 7 p.m. and we are certainly not trying to establish ourselves as a drinking destination.”
••• A BPC reader emailed this news: “For the second year in a row there are baby ducks in the lily pond in Battery Park City! There are a ton of them this year. They swim too fast and when they’re out of the water they all pile up together so it’s impossible to count them. It looks like there are two moms. Of course all of the babies are adorable.” (I’d go and get a photo but I melt in the rain. Anyway, these photos from Downtown Dance Factory‘s first recital are certainly cute enough to stand in. They’re by Angela Weir.)
••• Steven Alan‘s sample scrum sale is Thursday to Sunday, May 20–23. It’s at 87 Franklin (between Broadway and Church). The hours are 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday; noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
••• Next year’s Taste of Tribeca will be May 21. Calendar it!
••• Downtown CSA shares—in which you get a weekly or twice-weekly box of farm-fresh fruit and vegetables—are still available. Pick-up is now at 92YTribeca.
••• Torly Kid has started a Designer of the Week program, in which you get 15% off a different designer each week. This week: Tea Collection.
••• This Thursday at Frankly Wines: a tasting of “lots of old school Bodegas Riojanas Rioja, even a 1978 Gran Reserva,” says owner Christy Frank.
••• Coming soon to Marc Forgione‘s brunch: “Steak & Eggs for Two: Creekstone Ranch 28-day, dry-aged, 30-ounce, bone-in ribeye, Feather Ridge Farms eggs, hash browns, North Country bacon, housemade fennel sausage, country toast, and a spicy Bloody Mary,” all for just $89. It’s a value when you realize that you’ll never have to eat again. (Personally, I long ago learned never to eat a breakfast served in a skillet, because you only regret it later.)

That Moomah response is priceless. You don’t hear of too many venues that close at 7pm applying for a liquor license…cheers to stressed out moms!
