September 4, 2013 Restaurant/Bar News
The gate is down at Jerry’s Café on Chambers, but a sign on the door says the restaurant will reopen Sept. 3. It didn’t, however, and the phone is always busy, so I grew suspicious. Sure enough, Jerry’s posted this on its Facebook page:
To All Our Loyal Patrons,
We are sad to announce that we have closed our doors. We thank you for all the support over the years. We will miss our Jerry’s family greatly.
A shame.
Update: Manhattan Borough President—and the best choice for comptroller—Scott Stringer agrees. (Want to bet that Spitzer is more of a Regency Hotel breakfast kind of guy?) The Wall Street Journal Stringer refers to is here.

so sorry to hear this! we eat there often.
Soon there will be no reasonably priced places left!
Very sad to hear this. Another victim of the never ending construction on Chambers Street.
very sad indeed… with construction still going on, now would be the time to show some support to independent businesses which are literally struggling to stay in business before it is too late.
WIll miss you Lenny
So sorry.
Very sad. We really enjoyed having a relaxing, no-pretense, reasonably-priced restaurant in Tribeca that wasn’t a simple diner, pizza place or Irish bar.
