443 Greenwich Just Got More Exclusive

443 greenwich cornerOne of the more hotly anticipated new developments around here—I’d put it up with the Sterling Mason and 11 N. Moore (56 Leonard is in its own class)—has started its striptease. 443 Greenwich, which takes up half of the big block between Desbrosses and Vestry, put up signage around its sidewalk shed. The condos are being touted as “A Tribeca Landmark. Reimagined.” (Is that logo a maze or what?)

The big news here is that, according to the teaser website (443greenwich.com), there will be just 53 units—a major decrease from the “80 to 100” mentioned when the developers presented to Community Board 1 last September. Unless the plans to convert part of the building into a hotel have also been reimagined—in March, developer Nathan Berman told me the project would be “entirely residential”—that’s good news for neighbors who have been concerned about traffic and noise.

Cantor-Pecorella will handle the sales.

As a bonus, here are two more photos—one of a passageway into the courtyard, and one from PRESERV of the courtyard windows. I had hoped to do a photo essay on the building before construction began, but it didn’t work out.
