••• From the Lilac Preservation Project: “The museum ship Lilac has opened for the summer at Pier 25. The exhibition Hero Project will be on view there through June 30. With photographs by Jonathan Atkin, Hero Project is a selection from his on-going work-in-progress collaboration with dance artists aboard historic ships. In the exhibition, dancers athletically grace the gritty vessels in oversize photographs mounted throughout Lilac, from the bridge to the engine room.”
••• New Amsterdam Market is having a night market fundraiser on June 26. Tickets here. And the next regular market is June 21.
••• From NotifyNYC: “To commemorate the 70th Anniversary of D-Day, an organization called The French Will Never Forget will conduct a helicopter flyover and ceremonial release of one million rose petals over the Statue of Liberty tomorrow, Friday, June 6, between 11:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. The activity will consist of two AS365 helicopters executing the petal release and one additional helicopter for filming at an altitude of approximately 100 feet above the statue. This event is expected to last approximately 5-7 minutes. In addition, the French Naval Frigate Lafayette will participate by positioning itself adjacent to the Statue of Liberty in the Hudson River from 10 a.m – 2 p.m. A 21-gun salute will be conducted at approximately 12 p.m.
••• Tutto Il Giorno is opening a branch at the under-development Biscayne Beach condominium in Miami.
••• Gotta give kudos to Chase. I tweeted that the “Just Be You / Join us in celebrating Pride Month” message on ATMs would be a lot more meaningful if it included “gay” or “LGBT”—and Chase is adding “LGBT” as of today. (And whoever is handling the customer-service overhaul in recent years deserves major credit: The folks working there are almost relentlessly helpful.)
••• I just can’t get in the habit of posting pet adoptions, but Paulie is too adorable to ignore. From Reade Street Animal Hospital: “Paulie is a friendly, smart and loving seven-month old puppy we saved from being put to sleep at the city shelter. He is healthy, microchipped, fully vaccinated and neutered. He is a wiggling bundle of love. He is still a puppy so we would need a person or family who has the time and energy to raise and train a puppy. Tribeca Pet Services has graciously donated four free training sessions for Paulie to whomever adopts him. Paulie is currently living with Dr. Xanthos, her dog and two cats and is being trained. Contact us at Reade Street Animal Hospital in person or call 212-274-1700.”
••• Philip sent over bird’s-eye photos of the World Trade Center Transportation Hub (can we call it the “Thub”?) and the Fulton Center. Click to see them in all their glory.
