••• Gotham Bikes has opened in its new space at 101 Reade (the western half of Bell Bates). Thanks to B. for sending over the pic. Now does anyone know if there’s a new tenant yet for the former store on W. Broadway?
••• Actor Jason Segel will be at Barnes & Noble Tribeca on Sept. 9 to promote “the hilariously frightening middle-grade novel Nightmares!, the first book in a trilogy about a boy named Charlie and a group of kids who must face their fears to save their town.”
••• J. asked for an update on Da Claudio, the restaurant coming to 21 Ann from half of the old Barbarini Alimentari team. The word is they’re pushing for a mid-September debut.
••• “Ruben’s Empanadas on Broome has closed,” emails A.
••• This is a description of White Street, the new restaurant opening where Churrascaria Tribeca was, from a help-wanted site. And below that is an illustration that I believe is of the restaurant. (Update: A rep for the restaurant says the illo doesn’t accurately reflect what the interiors will be like.)
WHITE STREET is a grand, “L” shaped space with entrances on West Broadway (Main Entrance) and White Street. The West Broadway side of the space holds an elegant yet comfortable Wine & Whiskey Lounge complete with white marble floors, tall brass pillars & 100’s of spectacular wines. The White Street side of the space is the restaurant offering a tremendous “Modern American” meal by Chef Floyd Cardoz while surrounded by fine art on the interior walls.
Finally, tucked discreetly at the north side of the space is the private dining room complete with Chef’s table and studio kitchen. The ‘off the beaten path’ and ‘old school meets cool’ energy emanates through the entire experience. Classic lines, incorporating local history combined with tall palms, reference a 1930’s era and take the modern viewers breath away.
Our goal is to bring joy to every guest that enters the space by providing exemplary service and deliciously healthy food within stunning surroundings.
