I heard a rumor that 528 Canal (the four-story building pictured above) was being torn down so that an eight-story single-family residence could be built there (also using the parking lot). But when I called owner Continental Worsteds, I was told that they’re “looking at various options and that’s the best I can tell you.” When I specifically asked about 528 Canal, its demolition was “definitely a possibility.”

Nothing has been filed with the Department of Buildings yet, according to its website. Obviously, if you know anything, we’d all like to know it. Anonymity is guaranteed.
