LUDIC PROXY is a beautiful, haunting and magical piece that pulls you into uncharted territory where memory, fantasy and virtual reality swirl together. Three intertwining stories, from the past, present and future, tap into our deepest impressions of living in tumultuous times as nature and technology evolve out of our control, and explore the eternal drive for human connection.

What are the critics saying?

“Ambitious. Beautifully conceived. Ms. Ogawa has big ideas, both in terms of the writing and how to stage it. The play shows how the simulated can adjoin, infuse or ultimately replace the actual.” – The New York Times

“BEST BET! “Acute and aesthetically arresting. Not just an experience of theater but an experience of witnessing what it is like to be alive. You’ve gotta go.” – Theatre is Easy

“Ogawa’s writing is enchanting and poetic, deeply in tune with the spirit of many different cultures. Spectacular design work.” – New York Theatre Review

Post-Show Talkback via The Play Company Idea Lab Series

Join us immediately after the show on Monday, April 27 for an interactive post-show conversation with premiere game designer and scholar Eric Zimmerman and Ludic Proxy writer/director Aya Ogawa. Taking the role of designer as our starting point, we will explore the relationship between game design and theatre making and the impact of designer and creative choice on the experience of players and playgoers.

Moderated by Geoffrey Jackson Scott the conversation is part of Play Company’s Idea Lab series, and is free and open to the public.
