In the News: Oculus Skylights to Open Every September 11

••• The backbone of the World Trade Center Transportation Hub (a.k.a. the Oculus) is one long retractable skylight. Is it really possible, as the New York Times article implies, that all that money was spent on it just to open it once a year? “Each Sept. 11, the skylight will be opened to the elements for 102 minutes, Erica Dumas, a spokeswoman for the authority, said.
