  • Pinch Chinese (Soho) - specializes in dumplings, steamed buns. Not your typical Chinese delivery menu - it's carefully composed and edited. Everything we've tried from Pinch has been delicious. — Alice on Seen & Heard: Life Preservers Installed on the Riverfront

  • Chinese food selections for tribeca. On Christmas my wife and I and our friend Nicole discovered that the grand Sichuan on 7th Ave was closed. This was a shame bc it was our favorite place for many years. We looked online and found a place in Chinatown that delivered to tribeca. I don’t remember the name but it was only OK. I don’t remember the name. The vegetables mooshoo was lacking. Maybe next year — John on Seen & Heard: Life Preservers Installed on the Riverfront

  • You should own something so you can charge rent. That’s what private means !! — Gatekeeper on The Latest Salvo in the Franklin Place Battle

  • Brookfield said they are not ready to share the plans for 225 Liberty Yet. At a BPCA board meeting a few months ago it was approved for them to redesign the inside lobby to allow for ...more retail. All the rest of the presentation was about the sailing school plans for this year (they dropped the rates & redesigned the classroom space), some community sails and the plans for the marina. IGY says it will raise the rates on the commercial boats (but not the historic ones) to drop the rates for charters and private boats to attract more dock and drops. — TM on Seen & Heard: Has Haus Closed?

  • You know what else has been around for 200 years? The Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. It states in relevant part, "nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation." Taking the alley under eminent domain for use as a public street would be a 200-year solution to this 200-year old situation. — James on In the News: The Battle for Franklin Place

  • Don't falsely accuse me of being an owner at 5 Franklin Place and I won't accuse you of (i) being the owner of 68 Franklin Street and (ii) only being interested in charging film crews $10,000. per day to shoot in the alley. That fee goes to $0 on a public street with City-issued film permits. — James on The Latest Salvo in the Franklin Place Battle

  • Is it feasible for her to put an elevator from 153, going up through its roof to connect to her PH at 155? Or is that just a crazy idea? Because it that's possible it seems to make the most sense! She's combined the 2 PH apartments to create her main living space/residence & obviously likes it enough not to sell & move elsewhere & instead buy all this other property. But combining them means her security team probably needed a new place (which might be where the new 2nd floor purchase comes into play - they used to stay in the smaller of the 2 PHs). So that leaves the TH at 153: she could return one side of the front to a garage entrance & get the privacy she seemed to like from the rental she lived in while combining her PHs (it had a private garage entrance), plus it gives her more space for things like a home gym, screening room, etc. that she didn't have in the PH. The only hiccup then seems to be connecting the TH to the PH. Crazy as it may sound, an elevator from 153's roof to her PH would seem the best option of all proposed so far. — JulieA on Did Taylor Swift Buy Yet Another Apartment?

  • You mean drainage for the runoff from your driveway? Maybe eminent domain the entire building of 5 franklin, so the tenants can move to Connecticut where fences make good neighbors! — Gatekeeper on The Latest Salvo in the Franklin Place Battle

  • Maybe the unit owners should push to have the City condemn the street for public use under eminent domain. That is, after all, a proper use for eminent domain. The abutting owners would be compensated, but at something far less than the value of developable land, given the existing public easement and all the existing private easements that would prevent its development anyhow. The City would then have to install proper drainage and paving and signage. — James on The Latest Salvo in the Franklin Place Battle

  • what a spoiled perspective, looks pretty clear to me that they dont own or control the alley “non-exclusive easement for vehicular and pedestrian access” cant blame anyone for that but their own lawyers. shame on them. its only been that way for 200 years. how about using the broadway entrance for your baby strollers? even better how about a doorman on broadway. how about a security Guard for the golden crowns that were placed in the alley on inauguration day? so pathetic — gatekeeper on The Latest Salvo in the Franklin Place Battle

  • the new building which is actually on broadway, feels entitled to the alleyway which has been around for 200 years. i think the crowns are giving them power trips. rather than come to an agreement with neighbors on how to maintain access for everyone, they are try to use money and influence to get their way. hopefully the alleyway will remain in the private hands it was meant to be in and the building can use broadway for dropoffs. — gatekeeper on In the News: The Battle for Franklin Place

  • On Trade Joes web site they list the address as 233 spring . There was around 50,000 sq feet of retail space at street level so there might be more than one new retail tenant at street level . — mary on Progress at Trader Joe’s Soho Store!

  • I disagree regarding the vertical enlargement. Landmarks, rather than zoning, may impede one from enlarging 153 Franklin St. (It has already been enlarged from 1 to 3 stories per a 1997 Department of Buildings approved alteration.) 15 Leonard St was a different situation. New residential construction on the site of an existing 1-story garage had to comply with the NYC zoning requirement for a 30-foot deep rear yard behind new residential buildings built on interior (i.e., not a corner) lots of a certain size. http://a810-bisweb.nyc.gov/bisweb/BSCANJobDocumentContentServlet?passjobnumber=121182022&scancode=ES531557352&rObjectId=null&appType=null — James on Did Taylor Swift Buy Yet Another Apartment?

  • They can't go up at 153 Franklin. (next door to her PH) When they developed that new building at 15 Leonard I know the back of of 15 Leonard had to be so many feet away from each bldg it backed into on Franklin. (apologies for not being able to articulate that better) I know the PH on Leonard now slightly looks down on her outdoor space at 155...She did quite a bit of work outside to try and establish more privacy. I know people who previously lived at 155 Franklin..and they said dealing with the management company/bldg architect was a nightmare (and one of the reasons they moved) This was all pre TS/early TS moving in..they've bldg has obvs come around tho to allow her to do all that she's done with her renovations. — juliew. on Did Taylor Swift Buy Yet Another Apartment?

  • I have spent many hours walking the small stretch of beach that already resides at the planned Brooklyn Bridge Beach site. It is not safe to take your shoes here let alone wade in the water. There are needles in the sand along with broken glass and garbage. Not sure how they could ever make that a safe place to take your shoes off. I like the idea but shoes should be mandatory. — mc on In the News: Taylor Swift Purchase Confirmed
