  • Canal Rubber closing would be like the death of New York to me. I truly recommend everyone take a look at this last little bit of old New York while you can. It is quite eclectic and a lot of fun. — Rohin on Seen & Heard: Canal Rubber Is on the Market

  • So excited about the Gluten Free menu and to have a Keste in the area. The delivery from Bleecker em was for obvious reasons often cold. But agree when I walked by last weekend the decor was very disappointing and not welcoming at all. From the overall set-up and floor tile to the brightness of the lights and those TVs. Better atmosphere makes the food taste better and ensures you come back for more. Hopefully their good food will be enough! Wishing them good luck!! — JD on First Impressions: Kesté

  • The writing on that first no smoking sign looks very much like a Toynbee tile.... hmmm.... — Christy on Photo Safari!

  • Sadly this outpost of Le Relais de Venise L’Entrecôte is not up to snuff. Who knows, maybe it's growing pains, maybe it's early inconsistency but as a long time patron of the midtown location I won't be back to the Soho Restaurant. The "special sauce" seemed pretty lame compared to previous visits to the midtown location, and instead of the usual offer of a second half of diner with freshly cooked steak and fries we were met with a gruff challenge of "you want some more fries?" Additionally, the fact that the interior was lit like the best of any city hospital waiting room didn't exactly help with my enjoyment of the meal. This place feels like someone bought the restaurant name but missed just about everything that makes the brand special and successful worldwide. — Nicholas Graffinol on In the News: Steak Frites Restaurant Opens Tonight

  • this is a tremendous loss to the neighborhood. matt is such a down to earth, kind business owner who has a genuine interest in the community. he will be missed...best of luck to you and your family, matt. — urban cowgirl on Matt Bernson Is Closing His Tribeca Store

  • 460 Greenwich — Rachel on Where in Tribeca…?

  • As a former parent this is sad to hear, but not shocking. The head of the school was always clearly not interested in the school and the kids. Shady? Very shady to say the least. How could they suddenly loose their lease? Isn't the owner of the school also the owner of the building? — Kathryn on Montessori School of Manhattan Is Closing Its Tribeca Campus

  • This is a huge loss for the neighborhood. When Matt Bernson opened up, it was the my local shopping tipping point. Where in this city can you source a full outfit, including shoes, from local business? — Duane Street on Matt Bernson Is Closing His Tribeca Store

  • I'm all for honesty but I'd like this site to also support local businesses, so if the criticism isn't germane to the topic, it's better left unshared. (There's always Yelp.) And I deleted your comment about Humble Fish because I thought it inappropriate for a post welcoming a business to the neighborhood. — Erik Torkells on Matt Bernson Is Closing His Tribeca Store

  • Sad to hear that the store is going OOB. Went to his sample sale once and he was very friendly. Also ran into the designer and his wife and kid in the Ikea in Elizabeth NJ a couple of years ago. Very down to earth dude. His shoe designs are great but just wish the quality is better so it doesn't fall apart so soon... problem with all things made in China. *sigh* — TribecaMom on Matt Bernson Is Closing His Tribeca Store

  • The space is very soothing and the staff are very friendly. I had the spicy salmon bowl which had a very high ratio of rice to fish and slices of raw white onions whose flavor just overpowered the dish. The small was less satisfying than other poke bowls I have had recently. I hope they sort through some of the menu issues. — cami on New Kid on the Block: Humble Fish

  • Canal Rubber space is on the market. http://preview.tinyurl.com/canalrubber — LRG on Seen & Heard: The News Literacy Project

  • Canal Rubber occupies the same building as the corner space being marketed, it's the same block & lot. Secondly, Canal Rubber does not own the building - it was sold for $24M on Dec, 2015. The writing is on the wall, the developer is going to redevelop the building soon and Canal Rubber's stay is short lived. — LRG on Seen & Heard: The News Literacy Project

  • The rent for a selling basement is only 25-33% of the rent for a ground level store. The top floor is little more than an entryway to get you to the basement, like the Barnes and Noble and BB&B above Whole Foods setup, but underground. — James on In the News: Target’s Tribeca Store to Test Delivery

  • Are there w hubby and newborn baby a couple of weeks ago. We had the signature pizza (forgot the name but it was the one w lightly friend dough) and it was delicious. We really enjoyed our meal and liked that it's not overpriced. Hubby had to change baby diaper but there were no changing stations in the bathrooms, the manager apologized and said they will have them installed in the future. We really appreciate their willingness to do that. Anyway, we wish the establishment much success. We walked by the private event room and the mom in me was even thinking of hosting kiddo's birthday party there. — TribecaMom on First Impressions: Kesté

  • Doubtful...my ex and I rented the second floor for years and I know the building inside and out...no retail space on Greene. — elisa on Seen & Heard: The News Literacy Project
