You had me too! You are so good Erik! It's honestly not a bad idea though... — Claudine on “Tribeca Moms”: The Calendar
In a planter along Greenwich Street....between Harrison and North Moore Streets. — Robert Ripps on Where in Tribeca…?
If 70 Vestry is to be temporary and then torn down, they sure spared little expense. Considering it was done by a developer, it features some nice work and materials: well-done masonry, steel Windows from Dover, architectural awnings, etc... I hope it is a keeper! — McGee on Seen & Heard: A Rumor About 56 Leonard
Too bad that they (whoever "they" are) can't turn over the design to 2 WTC 2 to Fumihoko Maki. I can only imagine if they had entrusted him with the site plan. Just my opinion, but 4 WTC is the standout, both at the WTC site and among all new buildings that have risen in the city over the last decade. It is restrained and gorgeous. — McGee on Seen & Heard: Raw Oatmeal Bar
Very nice place, and what a great design by workstead. Does anyone know the source/producer of the two lounge chairs in the living room across from the sofa? — McGee on Loft Peeping: Mark Berryman

OMG, I was there on that day too! Although, I was admiring Huck's Mom's sea legs. Those legs are quite seaworthy and create the nicest seascape! ;) — Jim Smithers on Seen & Heard: Three Hudson River Park Updates
The Grand Banks Boat has been at Pier 25 all winter long and the crew have been working, even on the few very cold days we had. I was admiring one man's sea legs the other day when the water was very rough and he was carefully measuring and cutting wood as the boat was violently pitching with the waves. — Huck's mom on Seen & Heard: Three Hudson River Park Updates
195 Broadway is the corner of Broadway and Fulton. Not sure why it matters but it's as much on Fulton as on Broadway. — Brett on In the News: Garage Attendant Won the Lottery
Nobu isn't on Fulton, it's on Broadway, and neither is the Seaport stuff (iPic, Jean-Georges, Chang). The street itself may be getting better—if a bit heavy on fast food for my taste—but it's entirely relative to what it was. — Erik Torkells on In the News: Garage Attendant Won the Lottery
Exaggeration? Yes, but to be fair, Nobu at Fulton and Broadway, Jean George's Food Hall at the Tin Building, Sherry Yard's restaurant at the new iPic theater at the Fulton Market and the two new restaurants coming to Pier 17 from Jean George and David Chang at the foot of Fulton are at the other end of the spectrum and should be acknowledged as huge changes for this street. More changes are sure to come. — Luis Vazquez (FiDi Fan Page) on In the News: Garage Attendant Won the Lottery
Argh!!! I've been shopping there since I moved to Greenwich St in '96. What's taking its place...a "high-end" condo or bank??? — Jean Powerd on Another Store Is Closing
Not to disappoint your son re: the zombies, but there are at least two forthcoming openings on Chambers: Pret a Manger (in the Cosmopolitan Hotel) and something at 150 Chambers (half of what was Manhattan Books). And By Suzette is planning to reopen after its flood. But Nelly will be closing soon, if the "big sale" and "for rent" signs are any indication. — Erik Torkells on Another Store Is Closing
Erik, you are too funny. I look at those strange shoulder humps every time I pass that store, and wonder what the heck? Sad to see this bit of quirkiness leaving Tribeca, this was a hold-out so I knew it was just a matter of time. As my incredibly observant 9-yr old says, pretty soon Chambers street will look like a scene from Zombie Apocalypse, with all the closings, and non-re-openings. — Valentina on Another Store Is Closing
Walker Supply -- it is sad. With George Taylor plumbing supplies gone, Capitol Audio and Pakistan Tea House closed (whatever happened to Baluchi's?) and now Magna Fabrics closing fast, the quirky, lovable old Tribeca we all knew has almost completely vanished. I dread the day Transit Trading closes up, and I hope they don’t, but it must be hard to turn down the no-doubt-huge offers (I’m guessing) for their building. I wince when I see yet another for rent sign in an old-time establishment. Western Spirit (nice people) is moving across the street at least. Broadway between Canal and Worth is fast becoming like Fifth Avenue between 23rd and 14th -- which may be ok for lots of people, but there once was a flavor and character here that existed for decades. I can't help but look at places such as Let There Be Neon and wonder -- when? (again - just guessing) I know, snap out of it! — Doc on Seen & Heard: A Rumor About 56 Leonard
Yes, exactly. Full of late-1970s and early 1980s ennui, disdain and depression. Can't help but feel, in the current context, that they are like a Greek chorus, watching in judgement over what we've allowed to become of this neighborhood. Can't believe life (and this city) turned out this way, indeed. — james on Another Store Is Closing
They're still open -- but it is still sad. With George Taylor plumbing supplies gone, and now Magna Fabrics closing fast, the quirky, lovable old Tribeca we all knew has almost completely vanished. I dread the day Transit Trading closes up, and I hope they don't, but it must be hard to turn down the no-doubt-huge offers (I'm guessing) for their building. — Doc on A Longtime Hardware Store Is Closing
The gals at New York Dolls should see a real increase in business if they open up across from the Four Seasons. Fingers crossed - there is just something very delicious about that possibility! — TG on Beers and Leers
Re The Battery Maritime Building development - Does the EDC have accountability to ANYONE or, like the BPCA does it just do what it likes without any reference to transparency or the normal rules of public organization bidding processes? — Bob on In the News: The Dearth of Gas Stations
Pasted my (RI)SING poem where could be seen with Canal PO in background. Talking to passersby surprised that several folks did not know the Easter Rising raised the Green Flag over the Dublin Post Office 100 years ago: sing on! — robert janz on Seen & Heard: Raw Oatmeal Bar
Having lived in Tribeca since March, 1978, the ongoing elimination of 'our old neighborhood' stores has added to its numerous (and not necessarily positive) changes. Sheila has been there for years and has been helpful, friendly, and reliable - in this 'cozy' space. You'll be missed... — Rhona on Another Store Is Closing
