If you open without the permit, and you have showers, then you will get shut down and fined $$$ up the wazoo. Most yoga studios in the city do not have showers so they dont need the permit. These businesses need a Special Permit from the NYC Board of Standards and Appeals to locate and operate in New York City. Dance and yoga studios may be exempt from these regulations.
