sorry they did not say anything about Joan and Arty who owned Towers Cafeteria who helped Kieth and Lynn get there start with cheap rent and fed many of the artists in the 60,s and 70,s Joan — joan pantzer on In the News: The Odeon Is Hot Again
Also, it's remarkable how close 3 WTC is to the spines/spikes/fins of the Oculus. The building appears shoehorned into a too-small space, which is a shame. 3WTC should it have it's own breathing room, as well as giving its neighbors theirs. I'm sure Fumihiko Maki is fuming about the fact that the whole north side of his gorgeous 4WTC has been rendered invisible. — Andrea on Seen & Heard: Raw Oatmeal Bar
Has anyone tried the LPQ @ 50 Broad, near Stone St? I've eaten there a few times and think their food is quite a bit better than others. — Jim on Seen & Heard: Raw Oatmeal Bar
Actually, Chinatown got a senior center/housing (Chung Park) in exchange for having a jail in the neighborhood. I read it somewhere online but can't find the article now. — TribecaMom on The Rise of ChiBeCa
I walked by that LPQ on Saturday, I think it was, and spoke briefly with a guy working there. He said they were renovating and let me peek inside. It looked like they opened up some of the space next to the cash register (when you walk in from the entrance on the corner) and put a counter instead of whatever they had there before that made that part feel really narrow and cramped. — lowphat on Seen & Heard: Raw Oatmeal Bar
Washington Street between Watts and Canal? Exterior now covered up by yet another new build. — Jill Ostergaard on Where in Tribeca…?
LQP seems to have no interest in the quality of food or service. I haven't been to a single LQP and been even moderately satisfied. They skimp on everything. The settings are always nice, but it can't make up for the short cut on foods and generally poor service. — cami on Seen & Heard: Raw Oatmeal Bar
Afraid not, but thanks for guessing! — Erik Torkells on Where in Tribeca…?
Side of the building next to the dancer mural? I think it's West Broadway and White St. maybe? — GK on Where in Tribeca…?
Le Pain Quotidien is also taking over at Gateway in April (bye..bye nail salon, newstand and Cafe Express) so is it true that they are renovating or just getting ready to close and move? Will they keep 2 locations just blocks away from each other? Maybe you can find out! — Tamk on Seen & Heard: Is That a Seal in the Hudson River?
What is great about The Odeon is gorgeous Roya, but also the entire staff, and the fact that they make neighborhood people feel wanted and welcome no matter how big the crowd. It is and always will be our home base. — Alexandra on In the News: The Odeon Is Hot Again
The Odeon was never not hot to the locals. The driving force that keeps The Odeon tops to me is the elegant manager, Roya Shanks. She makes The Odeon always sublime. — Joan on In the News: The Odeon Is Hot Again

Mr. DeNiro is a true gentleman and has done so much good for the Tribeca community. I wish him well. — Larry Fink on In the News: Karaoke Machine for Acting
as a ps234 parent, i believe that lisa crossed the line by allowing that email to be sent via the school's email system that is for official communication only. last year she organized a testing boycott on school grounds. i am not ok with her dragging my child into this debate and i think the doe was correct in putting a stop to it. this line from the email especially bugged me. "If you are considering opting out, write a letter to Lisa to express your concern over state tests and refuse your child's participation in the tests. Opting out of the state tests is your choice. We want you to make an informed decision." — j on In the News: More Blowback for the Tribeca Film Festival
Vaxx on... Vaxx off? :) Vaxx is now removed from the festival due to elements in the movie that raised concerns.. http://www.vulture.com/2016/03/robert-de-niro-defends-anti-vax-doc-at-tribeca-film-festival.html — Rohin on In the News: Karaoke Machine for Acting
El Internacional and El Teddy's were great fun. — George on Seen & Heard: Is That a Seal in the Hudson River?
The Juice Press on Greenwich is also no longer making made-to-order salads. The woman working there said they made under 20 a day. She said it's going to be replaced with a raw oatmeal bar, like they have at some other Juice Press locations. — Tribeca Mama on Seen & Heard: North End Grill to Eliminate Tipping
Couldn't agree more with De Niro's point that all causes of autism be examined. That is precisely the reason this film should not be viewed. The film and research supporting the film has nothing to do with the causes of autism. It is false. And it is dangerous if presented as true. Dr Wakefield is more dangerous than heroin. His lies have killed hundreds. And it will kill thousands more. — Alan on In the News: More Blowback for the Tribeca Film Festival
The Community Board made the right decision. What the city gets in return is a vibrant thoroughfare that the landlords will be incentivized to reclaim ASAP rather than piecemeal of the years as SOME decide to purchase the extra rights and others decide it's not worth it. Having them done all at once will result in properties that are more valuable, leading to higher assessments which will lead to higher taxes revenue. — Luis Vazquez (FiDi Fan Page) on The Great FiDi Landgrab
The Big Payback?? There should definitely be some conditions or remuneration attached to the reclamation of the arcade space — Rohin on The Great FiDi Landgrab
Eric has a good point. And while I agree that Water Street certainly needs these changes, the owners of these properties did receive zoning bonuses for these plazas, good or bad urban planning aside. I think a few per dollars per sq ft recovered is a reasonable compromise, maybe a one time payment, as this will increase their RE tax bills. — George on The Great FiDi Landgrab
