  • I had been excited about this place opening but went for dinner last Friday (very early, so no wait) and was disappointed in the food. Everything was oily and/or over-salted. Maybe I'll give them another chance for lunch. It does seem they don't quite know who their customer base is/ should be... — Lulu on The Two Hands Dinner Menu

  • Your name here is "Tribeca Original", but if you're saying you think that the city is rife with crime since this mayor took the helm I have to question your experience. The cops show of disrespect is orchestrated. It's politics, and it's about future contract negotiation (and it has been very effective). Finally, this mayor's involvement with the real estate industry is a toe-dip in the ocean that was Michael Bloomberg's, for whatever that resulted in. But that it's part of being mayor of this city isn't news, just politics as usual, it would appear. That this is being used as a club shouldn't surprise anyone. It's Gangs of New York. — David G. • i like the mayor. he's gotten us universal pre-k and free after-school programs. the crime statistic issue is very debatable. and i would say the police have created their own problems. it's nice to have a mayor who cares about working people for a change. — j on In the News: Tribeca Deal Lands Mayor in Hot Water

  • Mayor Dum Dum has to go. Since he became mayor the city is full of crime. cops have no respect for him after the statements he made about them. Now this!! He is a disgrace! Impeach him! — Tribeca Original on In the News: Tribeca Deal Lands Mayor in Hot Water

  • Regarding Fidi ... I find it unlikely at best that they would only pay ($254k-$74k (refund))/ 949K = 19% in taxes... I would bet it's a typo and the correct number is probably $548K-$575k income? Perhaps the top line is right and the bottom are wrong too... The numbers in general do not seem to be reliable :) — Rohin on In the News: Tribeca Deal Lands Mayor in Hot Water

  • Agreed. Kid unfriendly in that location? Won't last in current form. Currently hot destination but that buzz only lasts 6 months. Needs to be sustained by locals of which, in case they hadn't noticed, there are a lot more of with lost of babies and toddlers. Look at Ago, Super Linda for what happens when you don't know your market. Menu looks unappealing also. Was told an hour and 15 wait last wknd, checked menu and decided never to eat there. — Jammy sod on The Two Hands Dinner Menu

  • Yes, the street fair is mayhem. Every year I pack a picnic and a bunch of relevant books and essays (e.g., "Reflections on Exile" by Edward Said; "The Long Exile" by Tolstoy; "Walking in the City" by M. Certeau; "Walking" by Thoreau; The Walk by R. Walser; The Flaneur by Edmund White; A Philosophy of Walking by Frederic Gros; A Walker in the City by Alfred Kazin; Reveries of a Solitary Walker by JJ Rousseau; The Walk by JC Robinson; The Other Walk by Sven Birkerts; Wandering by H. Hesse. My favorite is Basho's Narrow Road to the Interior.
