Agreed - this neighborhood is distressingly white and wealthy and maybe, if we can't change it, we can at least keep our sense of humor about it, huh? I went to Harvard and went through the whole "I went to school in Boston" thing and now I hesitate to say I live in TriBeCa sometimes - easier to say "downtown" or "near City Hall" because the very name "TriBeCa" draws eye rolls. — Will on In the News: A Tribeca Mom Discusses Race

I clicked on the 2005 article link for the Betsy Berne story and the first thing I noticed was that the address was WHITE street, Tribeca. Coincidence? I think not.... Just kidding. Anyway, everyone lighten up. The whole white power thing was clearly a tongue in cheek comment and nothing to be offended at. She wasn't saying every white person in tribeca is a white supremecist. — lowphat on In the News: A Tribeca Mom Discusses Race
Their prices are indeed painful. We'd like to support an independent vendor, but their prices are so high that we went with a tree from Whole Foods once again this year. Sorry to hear about your experience, Julie - may you fully enjoy that tree! — Erica on Shop-Local Gift Guide (Part 4)
I love this gift list. Almost everything is out of my price range or more suitable for people with large closets and larger living spaces. Still, its a fun read, and I hope that people will support local vendors. Maybe you could crowdsource Tribeca gifts under $25. — cami on Shop-Local Gift Guide (Part 6)
Walked by Pakistan team house today and the windows are papered. Has it gone out of business? Gonna miss those delicious $1 samosas. — TribecaMom on Seen & Heard: Distressing Rumor About Best Market
Sorry Erik...my bad (lol)...Still, how the heck would the manager of Duane Reade know that? By the way, not only did they add the tribeca web page to their site, but "tribeca" is on their store locator list as well as on their main page showing as "coming soon" like their other newly purchased locations...also it shows the store hours and there is a link to apply for jobs...And that was all updated only four days ago... I suspect that manager's information is bs but we will see....If i hear back from my original contact from Best Market, i will e-mail you and let you know... — Craig on Seen & Heard: Distressing Rumor About Best Market
It was a manager at the Duane Reade, not the Food Emporium. — Erik Torkells on Seen & Heard: Distressing Rumor About Best Market
By the way, I will try to confirm again with the VP of Best Market store operations if he will will reply to my e-mail i just sent him... I'll let you know if i find out anything...though it would seem odd that they would put up a tribeca store webpage just 4 days ago if the deal had "fallen through"... — Craig on Seen & Heard: Distressing Rumor About Best Market
This person who "heard" from the former food emporium store manager that the Best Market deal is off...how did he hear it? The store has been closed for over a week now...Is he a personal friend of the former manager? — Craig on Seen & Heard: Distressing Rumor About Best Market
So when is TriBeCa gonna have the first ever dogs only cafe? I think it'd be hilarious to see a place with 100 seats where half are occupied by dogs, all kinds of dogs sitting up on the chairs. "What would your dog like sir?" RUFF! RALF! "Oh the crabcake biscuit, right away!" LOL. LMAO if the place hires a bouncer and a guard dog to regulate dog behavior. — Doggy Treats on Seen & Heard: Distressing Rumor About Best Market
Can you bring your dog to Hudson Eats? I would be delighted if we could! No disgust here. — Liat on Seen & Heard: Distressing Rumor About Best Market
Also, I have a lovely small dog but am disgusted at seeing dogs in Hudson Eats on benches and being fed under the table multiple times. Security does not seem to have a problem with it after my friend and I pointed it out. Perhaps everyone should bring their dog to the food court. — anne on Seen & Heard: Distressing Rumor About Best Market
Is the noise from the stack as loud as the generator noise from the Feelings Museum? Could that structure be anymore intrusive onto public park space? — anne on Seen & Heard: Distressing Rumor About Best Market
Best Market has a page for a TriBeCa store on their website including reference to applying for positions there. But if that rumor is true that could be old information, it is at http://bestmarket.com/stores/tribeca/#.VmLrj3o8KrU . — JPL on Seen & Heard: Distressing Rumor About Best Market

Hey Jammy Sod, I merely responded to what Betsy wrote, and what she wrote was racist drivel. She called white people who live in TriBeCa white supremacists with her "White Power" nonsense. I neither have to read the rest of the article nor think Erik cherrypicked or looked for something to get her on, she summed up what she's about in what he merely posted. I'm guessing what he posted was what grabbed him the most and good job by you, Erik. He captured what your friend is: a reverse racist who paints all white people with one brush. It's your friend Betsy who devolved discussion calling people racists. I'm white, I don't believe in White Power, ok? Or did you not see what I wrote at the end of my reply? Yep. — L on In the News: A Tribeca Mom Discusses Race
