The short answer is yes. As for the long answer, I'd like to address it in a State of the Site post—haven't done one in a long time, and this is a good topic to get into there rather than in the comments on a week-old post. — Erik Torkells on In the News: Maison Kayser’s Fan Is Driving Neighbors Nuts
Yeah yeah I knew you'd say that. But all papers and magazines (as you know) make editorial decisions about their advertising and they generally don't plug ads directly into the main news area or format ads to look exactly like articles. Obviously you have to sell ads, and some are even helpful reminders of things around the margins. Do you have to sell ads that masquerade as the original content on the site? — hst on In the News: Maison Kayser’s Fan Is Driving Neighbors Nuts
Erik... Check out Canal Rubber... Love that place too — Rohin on Valentine No. 44
Good point! I'll remove all the ads and do the site for nothing but kicks. — Erik Torkells on In the News: Maison Kayser’s Fan Is Driving Neighbors Nuts
@John Doe: exhibit b: "zipdrug." That, along with the clean bathrooms app and the mail order underwear, are some of the more ridiculous start ups that have been featured here. All of them (and more) an ill-advised use of posting space for paid advertising -- an increasingly frequent practice on the blog, I regret to say, and something I for one would prefer not to see. — hst on In the News: Maison Kayser’s Fan Is Driving Neighbors Nuts

Pier 26 seems to be a very good guess for Diner en Blanc as i see an events company called The Factory setting up there now. — amorris on Seen & Heard: Tonight’s Diner en Blanc Is Happening Around Here
But there appears to be a new Coffee Shop taking its place. YES, another one! :-) I'll get the name and report back. — Luis Vazquez (FiDi Fan Page) on Seen & Heard: Tonight’s Diner en Blanc Is Happening Around Here
The rich people who own these mansions are entitled to nothing. They provide jobs and pay huge taxes on buildings they rarely occupy. Their kids don't attend public schools and they utilize none of the city's generous "programs." The people with an exaggerated sense of entitlement are the poor folk with their hands out who feel like the world owes them a living as well as subsidized housing in some pricey neighborhood like Tribeca. — russell cecil on Mansion Fever!

I think a lot of these comments about this poor guy are just heartless! Yes, this guy and his belongings are gone, but I keep wondering about him and what became of him. Hopefully, he was able to get help, but I'm sure he just moved to another location and remains homeless. Remember no matter how comfortable our cushy little lives are in Tribeca in our beautiful lofts and with our high priced restaurants and stores, we should never forget how fine a line there is between his life and ours. With just a little bit of bad luck...say the loss of a job or some sort of financial disaster, we could wind up in his shoes! — Denny on The Homeless Situation Is Only Getting Worse
Complete agree re City Hall Park. The gaslights have not been on for over a year, the bluestone is crumbling, vagrant population has exploded, and the park has been filthy. We need a community organization to help restore this park to its former glory since our elected officials obviously do not care. — NassauStResident on Seen & Heard: Macaron Shop Opening Soon
The condition of all the landscaping (and the hardscape, too) in City Hall Park has deteriorated horribly. It's hard to believe that it was only 12 years or so ago that they spent more than $20 million to renovate the park. — Makes you go "hmmm..." on Seen & Heard: Macaron Shop Opening Soon
This redesign is a horror. Viewed from the north and northeast, it is a glass boxed caricature of the collapsing South Tower. Viewed from the Memorial, is a sheer wall, as if trying to seperate itself from the memorial, as opposed to beckoning to it, as was the original design. The original design, with the 4 diamonds, along with the 4 spires on 3WTC, were geographical beacons that, upon completion, were designed to point to where the Twin Towers once stood, regardless of location and distance viewed from. This new design not only backhand slaps away that important design feature, it urinates on the memory of the lost. The original design was a gift to the people of NYC as an aerial beacon to the 9/11 Memorial. Surely, it isn't too late for them to re think the rooves of Towers 3 and 2, so that their Memorial facing facades can be returned to their original intent. — Jay on Many More Renderings of 2 World Trade Center

I believe a call to 311 should be made. Oh and anyone who says move out of the city to get a better quality of life should themselves leave since they make the city a dump in many in ways noise can never be — Dee on Seen & Heard: The Spring Street Salt Shed Is Taking Shape
Noise pollution is not an inevitable aspect of city living. New York lags behind other leading global cities in controlling noise. Do not accept the false premise that peace and quiet can only be obtained in Vermont, and demand better from city hall. — J Allen on Seen & Heard: The Spring Street Salt Shed Is Taking Shape
