  • The camped out homeless have increased by the Chamber's St 1 train recently, particularly by Bogardus garden. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that. But seriously, with graffiti popping up on the abandoned buildings and the number of empty storefronts, who can really be surprised that the homeless are moving in. The neighborhood is on the verge of something, but I'm not quite sure what. — Anon on The Homeless Situation Is Only Getting Worse

  • A bit of background for the Jake Fogelnest tweet: he and his dad lived downstairs from me when he was growing up. Now his father lives in Chelsea and he's a comedy writer in LA, but he actually does know Tribeca from the inside. — David G. Imber on Welcome to TweeBeCa

  • Sheila, If he was living in front of your building, like he's living in front of my building..you would be happy the police 'stole' his stuff. He's a homeless guy who's smoking crack for all to see. Maybe it does rate a mention that he's a good looking white guy that the police seem to leave alone..I doubt they'd be as 'whatever' about the whole thing if it was a person of color smoking crack/living on the sidewalk in front of Nobu. — Andy on The Homeless Situation Is Only Getting Worse

  • If you go by the homeless guy outside Santander at night, you will see him smoking drugs from a pipe. While I am not an expert on drugs, this does not at all appear to be pot that he is smoking. I base this on the manner that he is smoking. I have seen him do this several times in front of young children passing by. We should all be sympathetic to homelessness. However, doing drugs on our streets should absolutely not be tolerated. I would recommend that parents with children walk on the other side of the street for starters. — Scott A. on The Homeless Situation Is Only Getting Worse

  • I am a tourist and no, I did not enjoy the City Pulse thing - it was distracting and blocked the views. The 2 min movie is great because of the unexpected reveal you get at the end of it - that bit really was amazing. The lift ride was also good - I wonder what it would be like to have clear views as you are going up? I'm not afraid of heights but I think even I would find it disconcerting. Overall, it was a good experience because of the fabulous views (I went on a clear, sunny day) but I was puzzled by the many columns and weird angles which seemed to defeat the purpose of 'observation.' I also think they should have plans/maps to show the different areas and buildings for those who choose not to get the i-Pad (I don't even remember being offered one). I had breakfast in the cafe which was nice, but the service was appalling - rude and sullen. Not really acceptable for a top attraction like this. Other staff were very good though. — Carrie on What the One World Observatory Is Really Like

  • Thanks for these. They seem like great services if all you have is boxable stuff, but we also have a piece of furniture, and they wither won't take it or the cost is $800 per month (!). — Erik Torkells on Seen & Heard: Maison Kayser Is Opening Tomorrow

  • It's curious that the company that operates Bill's Bar & Burger would take over the space in the W Hotel.
