the lines are a logistic problem for them, as is more training for their staff who tend to clump together and chatter every time something goes wrong, so 4 people are handling one disturbance, rather than one person and three others keeping the line moving... My comment on the recently opened food hall at the back - it's too minimalist. Food needs a sense of abundance, and these stark small shelves just don't do it for me. I find it a bit depressing actually. If you go to Whole Foods or Eataly, there is just this sense of plenty and deliciousness (whether the food lives up to the hype or not) but the food hall here appears too stark/barren. Also their steaks are great but their charcuterie is overpriced for what it is. The ham is French style, not French, and not worth 50% more than ham I could get elsewhere. But their nougat is fabulous! — Liat on Suggestion Box: Le District
I see this building from my window and while I agree it is nothing like what was promised, it does offset the ugly, windowless ATT building and old school rental just next to it. It brings some interesting new texture. Having said that, this building and the one on Park Place are out of character for Tribeca. — Barbara on We Need to Talk About 56 Leonard
Jim Smithers is my hero! Count me in with the less vocal majority who are excited by this building. That said, I'm so over this thread. I'm going to go navigate around this site some more so I can read all the comments complaining about nail salons, Starbucks, Haus, and sidewalk cafe seating (except for Little Park, omg Little Park's ourdoor seating is amazing). — Brian on We Need to Talk About 56 Leonard
I'll add another vote for "clarifying the lines". My wife and I were waiting to get some desserts the other day, right next to the crepes, and everyone waiting was just basically looking at each other and unsure of who was next and/or where to stand. — lowphat on Suggestion Box: Le District
Could not agree more. Makes me sick every time I look at it. One positive thing, I am now paying attention to what is going on in the neighborhood and will do my part to make sure this does not happen again. — Mac McCobb on We Need to Talk About 56 Leonard
waiting for one's turn in the Crepe line was painful. No one knew whose turn it was next... — Sanjay on Suggestion Box: Le District
I dined at the meat counter last night and it was a huge improvement over chaotic service on a Saturday night a couple weeks ago. As long as you're in a steak frites kind of mood, it's worth checking out. — Dan Kohn on Suggestion Box: Le District
I echo the comments about the lackluster service. Having dined in the bar area for dinner twice now, both experiences were laughable! I contemplated asking to speak with a manager to provide feedback but quickly surmised that they were likely more focused on the tourist crowd versus sustaining a cult neighborhood following. Total bummer! — Christin on First Impressions: Beaubourg
Im not surprised - this place had awful service everytime i went in there. The people working there were never helpful. — Greenwich St Mom on HomBom Toys Has Closed
i think the north side has the most stuff going on renderings and reality — pete on We Need to Talk About 56 Leonard
It is such a shame Brookfield , or shall I say BPCA, didn't pick a true restauranteur, not just a mediocre pub group, trying to go upmarket. They had an opportunity to do something great, in a neighborhood that desperately needs a great restaurant. — liz on First Impressions: Beaubourg
They don't take insurance, but -- as a courtesy -- they will submit the forms for you. Really nice offices, and Dr. Knipe is awesome. — LAngel on New Kid on the Block: Washington Market Pediatrics
This place was my saving grace when it came to last minute gifts. I'm going to miss the twin sisters they were so lovely, and the boys always delivered no problem in any weather. Looks like I'll be taking the train uptown for the holidays. — Jessica.b on HomBom Toys Has Closed
Ah, missed that one! Thanks. — Erik Torkells on Seen & Heard: Moving Date for Steven Alan Home Shop
It happens occasionally, but their service is always top notch. Sad to see this store go. Its rare now a days to find stores who treat you as family and not just customers. — tc on HomBom Toys Has Closed
Sounds like any food establishment owned and operated by the Poulakakos family. Bunch of items on the menu they can't deliver on. Instead, one is served some slop on a plate. Reliably mediocre service. And there's always some sort of nephew or a cousin of Harry's operating the credit card machine in the back. — Big Meh on First Impressions: Beaubourg
No, the 2nd floorplan with the master bedroom. It's a terrace between where the bed is and where the sitting room area is, That side fronts N Moore. — lowphat on Seen & Heard: Moving Date for Steven Alan Home Shop
That terrace fronts Varick (and the one in the photo is on N. Moore). The condo site says this: "The serene exterior courtyard features custom tiered planters with lush greenery and integrated stone benches." So maybe that's what it is? — Erik Torkells on Seen & Heard: Moving Date for Steven Alan Home Shop
The few times I went in there, the people that were working seemed more interested in talking to each other about random stuff than helping me looking for presents. — lowphat on HomBom Toys Has Closed
the 11 N Moore looks like the terrace for the master bedroom in the 2nd floorplan here - http://streeteasy.com/building/11-north-moore-street-new_york/ph (if links work) — lowphat on Seen & Heard: Moving Date for Steven Alan Home Shop
I would think what dot-person above is saying is someone should have run up to Kings about 150 feet away and gotten MORE candy for like 10 bucks and not put up a sign at all and not been a toy store (!?) that turns away excited children and their parents on Halloween. — Kristopher on HomBom Toys Has Closed
Just wondering, what would you like them to say instead? — Sane person on HomBom Toys Has Closed
very sad. great store. great people. and they let me bring my dog inside... — josh on HomBom Toys Has Closed
Here's a suggestion: On Halloween don't put a sign in the window that says "NO MORE CANDY" — . on HomBom Toys Has Closed
I find 30 Park Place even more disturbing than 56 Leonard. How on earth did it get the air rights to loom over the Woolworth building? — KP on We Need to Talk About 56 Leonard
