  • Actually, I wanted to say thanks for the heads-up about lunch at Da Claudio. I was there with a friend on Monday and lunch was very good, with excellent sandwiches. The staff was friendly and helpful and the comic art decor is decidedly fun. — HCR on Seen & Heard: Lunch at Da Claudio

  • That restaurant was TERRIBLE. Hoping for improvement with the next iteration. — Sparrow on Los Americanos Is Closing

  • There's some overlapping ownership but the restaurants are otherwise completely separate. The menu was always going to be different. — Erik Torkells on New Kid on the Block: Gotan

  • Forgot to add.. that quote is from another website. — lowphat on Is the Battle for North Cove Marina Over?

  • The board member that recused herself from the voting didn't do it just because she lived in the area. Her reasons were that "she is a member of Forenbaugh’s sailing club, has a boat in the marina, and had contributed to his foundation". — lowphat on Is the Battle for North Cove Marina Over?

  • Erik - are the owners the same people behind Little Collins? I thought I recalled one of your earlier reports mentioning that. The menu looks different. — McGee on New Kid on the Block: Gotan

  • As if there was ever any doubt that the man who built up the Marina and who has the best interest of the community ever had a chance. I still think the recusal of the board member is suspect. Her vote should have been allowed or else she should recuse herself from the board and no BPC resident should be allowed to sit on the board at anytime. — TribecaMom on Is the Battle for North Cove Marina Over?

  • Heres an idea for the new concept: cease being a huge rip-off — . on Los Americanos Is Closing

  • I have worked in the neighborhood for more than 26 years and have tried every eatery that has come along. Tribeca Kitchen is the only place that has offered deliciously prepared upscale organic foods and desserts. The owners and staff go the extra mile to provide a great selection on their menu daily. Their food is prepared on order so the food is always fresh and flavorful. I appreciate being able to order such delicious dishes like Musaka (oh so flavorful) and all kinds of burgers...all organic. And i would be remiss if i did not mention the fabulous chicken wings...yes they serve some over the moon chocolate dipped savory wings. Yummmmy. The prices are very reasonable and the service is stellar. If you come once you will return ebery day...just like me I love this restaurant and i love the people who care so much about the food and atmosphere their customers experience. As long as they are here i will be here. Congrats — Carolyn on Marathi

  • If what is written above is true I believe it's a sad and sorry story. For NCMM and the wonderful programs that exist and began under Michael Fortenbaugh's prescient use of the marina to be removed and replaced by a luxury marina is another nail in the coffin of what used to be Manhattan. If true, then once again the rich will have ousted the remainder of the middle class. If anyone in BPCA or Brookfield has ever been to a yacht club they would know they are all about dining and social events. Hardly a boat ever moves. And to bring in more yachts than have been there under NCMM is not an answer to anything. It's a kick in the butt to Michael, the teachers, the employees, those who've learned to sail and furthered their skills, the kids programs, the public, and residents of BPC. A vibrant public facility and community is being kicked out for what will be a dead boat basin. — Claire Morda on Is the Battle for North Cove Marina Over?

  • BPC lost the marina. BPCA just told Fortenbaugh that there would be no extension on the lease and he needs to leave to make room for Farkas or Brookfield.....so sad. — Camilla on In the News: Lunch at Little Park

  • I hope Da Claudio gets their act together. I really want to them to do well, but the food they turned out on Sat night was just bad. Our pasta was so overcooked, which is a total rookie mistake for an Italian restaurant. It was also full of tourists and kids. — John on Seen & Heard: Lunch at Da Claudio

  • And she is not involved in any other organization in BPC for which she has voted in the past? As a resident of the neighborhood she must have voted on or been a part of the decision making process on other issues where she had a personal connection. Doesn't sound right. Why wasn't Cuomo's friend disqualified? Why wasn't Brookfield taken out of the running based on their current association with BPC. Sounds very suspect. Wasn't the fact that she is a resident supposed to be a plus for the community not knock her out of voting on key issues that directly effect the community. — TribecaMom on In the News: City Withdraws Landmarks Plan

  • Hi Erik, Do you know when they are going to start working on it? Looks like a very nice improvement to the area... Thanks, C — Carlo on The Final Plan for Bogardus Park

  • Wouldn't she (martha gallo) have known that months ago when BPCA put out the RFP for a new operator? Why such surprise at the 11th hour? The truth is BPCA doesn't want to look like the Grinch right before Christmas... Kicking out the local resident and fantastic marina manager to hand over all of his hard work to Cuomo's biggest campaign donor (Farkas). BPCA never had any intention of renewing Fortenbaugh's lease. The BPCA didn't even have the decency to let Fortenabugh know his lease was not being renewed and was up for RFP. What a disgrace by the often disgraceful BPCA and a slap in the face to a real pro, mike fortenbaugh. — Liz on In the News: City Withdraws Landmarks Plan
