  • Lol. It can be argued that the policy itself is indefensible, ignorant and idiotic (manage your finances better and stop squandering public funds in the highest tax city in the nation). The huge financial impact on the working class (in nyc and from all adjacent boroughs) is precisely why she halted it. It’s an election year and the Democrats are losing their base. This coincides with the recent release of petroleum from the strategic reserves (to lower prices at the pump) and the sudden restrictive border policy enacted the other day (to limit immigration). See the trend? These last minute about-faces are to retain votes. Then they’ll turn around and screw the working class, as usual, after the election, assuming they win… — Evan Kinell on How? Why? And what the heck?

  • Finally! Someone has come to their senses about the issue. It was a money grab from the start. If we need money for the subways, enforce fare evasion. If you want cars to move more quickly, let the streets be streets instead of bike lanes and bike parking and extra restaurant space; with the double parking on both sides of Church Street by trucks unloading, it’s down to one lane much of the time. — Ken on How? Why? And what the heck?

  • This is just an embarrassing way to govern. What did we do to deserve her and Eric Adams? — malcolm on How? Why? And what the heck?

  • I hope we all remember this indefensible, ignorant and idiotic decision at the next election. — RB on How? Why? And what the heck?

  • Huh??? — Robert C on Trump van ends its tour with a crash on Staten Island

  • I don't think it is necessary to be so personal. Also, I'm not sure if you actually saw the Trump van but clearly these people trying to provoke a response. Frankly the van didn't look fit to be on the road with covered windows, old tires etc... so its not surprising it crashed. — Really? on Trump van ends its tour with a crash on Staten Island

  • I wasn't looking forward to congestion pricing BUT the traffic situation in lower Manhattan NYC is ridiculous and I had come around to thinking congestion pricing was a necessary evil. I really can't believe the Governor waited until the last minute to do this- and didn't really explain her decision well - she lost my vote — WHAT?? on How? Why? And what the heck?

  • STOP YELLING. It’s not all about what you want now is it? I’m not even sure what politics are being espoused on here. I thought the site took a turn toward the NYPost crowd myself which wasn’t the best. — Mb on Trump van ends its tour with a crash on Staten Island

  • please stop with your politics and one sided agenda. I read Tribeca Citizen for NEWS AND NEWS ALONE. Its very disturbing. — Native on Trump van ends its tour with a crash on Staten Island

  • Great article, thanks for taking the time to write it. I very much appreciate all that you do for our community. Please keep doing what you do, I love it. — A Tribeca Parent on Trump van ends its tour with a crash on Staten Island

  • This is such a terrible idea; aesthetic blight for everyone in exchange for a few extra pennies for a couple of folks. Must we monetize EVERYTHING…what is the point of material wealth if we’re surrounded by an auto-oriented, advertisement-laden hellscape (and yes, Manhattan is generally the exception in this country, but we’re wealthy enough to have a much better built environment and transit system). — Reader on Reade on Murals on 109 West Broadway could be painted over with new ads

  • I'm concerned about the type of news being shared here. Coupled with your homophobic focus on two women kissing in the ad post, I'm really questioning the kind of information you're promoting. I think you've lost sight of the original purpose that brings most of us to this site — B on Trump van ends its tour with a crash on Staten Island

  • Watch your tone. How smug and inconsiderate to gloat about this news. Typical tactless Tribeca hedge fund wife. Hunter Biden’s laptop wasn’t real. — Steve C on Trump van ends its tour with a crash on Staten Island

  • The stables were a regular stop on my son's daily (stroller) walk around the neighborhood on the days we didn't visit Engine 7, Ladder 1 on Duane. At 30 yrs old he remembers the horses better than the fire station. And neither of us remembers visiting Ladder 8 (Ghostbusters). Maybe it was closed for renovations in the mid-90s? — N on In the News: When Tribeca had horses

  • I think the obvious and thinly concealed fear mongering in this article is only there because of a lack of facts and stimulating thought. This author couldn't stimulate any thought with the subjective points they brought up and tried to appeal to emotion instead with the fake story about the teen that wandered into one of those stores and ended up having to get an IV and all that. Makes no sense why you would stroll in there afterwards like you're Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys conducting an investigation when you couldve just looked online and informed your poorly educated readers that the reason these ships haven't been shut down yet, despite every Karen's best efforts (god forbid that fictional fifteen year old have better parents that keep track of their kids) to shut them down, is due to the ongoing discussion about the legality of THCa. — Education_is_Paramount on Illegal cannabis stores are selling ridiculous dosages of THC

  • Yes, I'd say the sheds are still preferable to a parked car or truck. Widening the sidewalks, as I suggest, would also typically require eliminating/reducing parking spaces, just like the sheds do. My point is that this could be done differently, and in my view, in a better way, per my notes above. Cleaner, simpler, safer, more aesthetic outdoor dining, without need of sheds. — Marcus on In the News: The future of dining sheds
