  • @Ellen, Can you tell me how your are "pretty sure" that taxpayers are paying Jim's mortgage? I live in Tribeca an have a mortgage and I'd like to get some of that government cheese too?! The mortgage fiasco we lived through in 2008 that led to a taxpayer bailout was a function of greedy bank's and Clinton's initiative that "all" folks should enjoy the benefits of home ownership. Guess what - some folks should NEVER be homeowners....simply because they cannot afford to. I lived and worked my a#s off, and rented for 20+ years until I was able to afford the down payment and monthly payments of home ownership. I think that 90+% of homeowners are in the same boat as me. Your comments are both divisive and factually incorrect. — Marc on Seen & Heard: Dangerous Film Shoot

  • @Betsy: The sales info in StreetEasy just says that it was bought in October by "42 Lispenard LLC C/O Funaro and Co LLP 350 Fifth Avenue, 41st Floor New York NY 10018" which of course isn't helpful. But you should go to the CB1 meeting where reps for the building will be there, and you can ask them about the lighting—they may have no idea how much it's inconveniencing you. (Alternatively, they may not care, but it's worth a try!) — Erik Torkells on New Plans for Canal Room?

  • 6) 42 Lispenard Street, application for lowering first floor, storefront renovation, window
replacement, restoration of cast-iron steps, new skylight and new stairs and elevator –
Resolution Sounds like someone is finally doing something with the old Pearl [Paint] Craft Center. But who? They leave the entire 3rd floor lit up 24/7 (only the 3rd fl.) & at night it's bright enough in the back of my place (38 Walker St.) to read by!! When I called Pearl weeks ago, they said the building was sold. — Betsy Kaufman on New Plans for Canal Room?

  • I too would like more info on the rent stabilization piece. My building is not listed but will my mortgage be stabilized? Will my mortgage (aka: property) be subsidized by the government (aka: tax payers)? I don't want to take responsibility for my own life, I just want what I want and I would greatly prefer for others to pay for it or pay Cool? — Jim Smithers on Seen & Heard: Dangerous Film Shoot

  • I too would like more info on the rent stabilization piece. My building is also listed and our rent has never been stabilized... We've had increases steadily for the past several years. Is this form meant to be a report of the fact that the rent has not remained stable? — Jenn on Seen & Heard: Dangerous Film Shoot

  • Would love to see the "Quality of Life Committee" ask about traffic direction and enforcement on the non-stop honking of all of the traffic backed-up from Canal to Duane Park from mid-day until well into the evening. Would just love it. Not like, looooove. If not, is there anyway to get the cars to honk in unison with a holiday jingle or carol? Or could they resolve that it's okay to egg nog the cars that honk from our rooftops with glee? — Jim Smithers on New Plans for Canal Room?

  • @Bryan: I'm afraid I don't have a clue. I'd suggest reaching out to Community Board 1, which would understand much better exactly what this is about. (Or if anyone reading this knows and wouldn't mind connecting with Bryan, let me know and I can put you all in touch.) — Erik Torkells on Seen & Heard: Dangerous Film Shoot

  • Erik, Do you have any more insight on the last item? I currently live in one of the buildings listed and am not sure how to proceed. The last thing I want is the landlord to get angry with my complaint and slack on future repair requests, etc. From what I understood the building already was stabilized. Do we fill this out if we think we are being overcharged? If so, how would one know? — Bryan on Seen & Heard: Dangerous Film Shoot

  • The park looks very nice; a lot better without the Sphere cluttering the site. That only structure of the WTC to survive the attacks deserves to be placed as part of the Memorial Plaza! Why not? Best place for it! Also, Liberty Plaza is the perfect name (it stands over Liberty St). Especially because it stands beside "Ground Zero." — Michael Burke on First Look: The World Trade Center Park

  • I am not sure why mailboxes have to be removed (other than due to the financial distress of the USPS) rather than just moved a few feet out of the way of the construction. I guess it is all part of reducing the load of the USPS and I wonder if the mailboxes will ever be replaced. The hunt to mail a letter goes on. — Bob M on Seen & Heard: Hudson Street Deluge
