The restaurant's name where the Harrison is was called: How's Bayou — Erica on Seen & Heard: Black Spring
@dan: I think it's FiDi, if only because I've never heard anyone say, "I live in the City Centre" (or Civic Center, for that matter), and I live on the other side of City Hall Park. The crowd right now is a bit more Denny's (which I mention in the post) than Balthazar, but a lot of tech/ad companies are moving to the general FiDi area. — Erik Torkells on Could Balthazar Be Moving Downtown?
BPCA is a rotten egg. All these VPs who are Albany appointed drawing a Salary of over 200k is well beyond absorption. The salary of the state employees is on a NY State website. On Gov. Cuomo's website he draws a salary of $187000 pa, than how come in BPCA the VPs draw over 200K. Than on top of it they rope in there own people with at least a salary of over 100k pa without any experience. This place has become a vice of den. The whole place is filled with nepotism and cronyism and needs to be overhauled from Chairman to all VPs. — Mike on In the News: Battery Park City Chief Resigns Abruptly
That area isn't even 'FiDi'. Its actually 'City Centre' and a mixed bag of tourists, students, city hall employees, etc. Sure the hotel may spruce things up a bit , but there 's a Denny's moving in very close by at 150 Nassau. — dan weiss on Could Balthazar Be Moving Downtown?
Yeah, this puts the kibosh on AGT for me. I don't think I'll have any reason at all to go there. — Doug on Another Vendor Is Leaving All Good Things
Dicksons was the one reason I still went to AGT. Their staff was extremely knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly. I will definitely be going up to their Chelsea location when i need to have the best meats and service available in NYC. If their "replacement" is as lacking as All Good Bread is to Orwashers i may never be back to AGT. — Brett on Another Vendor Is Leaving All Good Things
wow, weird things going on at Battery Park City Authority.... Wonder who will take that position next and what they will do with it! — Liat on In the News: Battery Park City Chief Resigns Abruptly
Well this is terrible. All Good Things, and in particular Dickson's, is (was?) my favorite addition to the neighborhood in some time. — Alan on Another Vendor Is Leaving All Good Things
@Katie: I probably should've clarified—bottled juice is everywhere (Mulberry & Vine, Kaffe 1668, Whole Foods, and many others, I think, but I'm not really a juice person). Yorganic sells fresh juice, and I'm pretty sure Sweetgreen (the place coming to Il Mattone) will have it. — Erik Torkells on More Juice in Tribeca
I heard Dickson' Farmstand is leaving All Good Things :( — Brett on Seen & Heard: New Flower Shop
What are some of the other juice bars? I remember reading a juice place might go in the Il Mattone Space? I used to get juice at Peace and Love - but that has closed too. Ps ... Work seems to have finally started at Dylan Prime - have they let you know their plans? — Katie on More Juice in Tribeca
Come to NW TriBeCa! — Mike on No Silver Lining Here
@ags: How's Bayou??? — KP on Tribeca in the 1980s
Does anyone remember the name of the restaurant on Harrison and Greenwich (South East corner) before The Harrison, before Spartina (they served great chicken with mashed potatoes (with the skin) and collards and catfish)? Can't seem to find anyone who knows. — ags on Tribeca in the 1980s
I don't begrudge Henry Meer owner/chef of City Hall and the building it's in his good fortune in opening a popular restaurant for wealthy, influential diners. But many of us in the neighborhood know him as one of the landlords who tried to screw his longtime tenants with the "phony demolition" scheme to skirt rent stabilization. Until the courts ruled it illegal, this was the most brazen show of contempt for tenants we've seen in recent years. — David G. Imber on In the News: Battery Park City Chief Resigns Abruptly
Just sopped by Mr. Furukawa flower shop and got a bay leaf plant! Great addition to the neighborhood! — Robert on Seen & Heard: New Flower Shop
Andrew C. Mitchell guessed it correctly on Twitter: It's on the door at Edward's (and you do have to pull hard). — Erik Torkells on Where in Tribeca…?
@Rohin: No, it's at Laight. I walked by last night and saw the graffiti. — Erik Torkells on More Juice in Tribeca
Block above canal... — Rohin on More Juice in Tribeca
I love B Flat but the great thing about Silver Lining—one of the great things about Silver Lining—is that you could enjoy the music and still chat a bit. Last time I went to B Flat, the jazz, while excellent, was deafening. — Erik Torkells on No Silver Lining Here
+1 for B-Flat. But Silver Lining will def be missed. One of my few fave bars in all of NYC. — MrCupcake on No Silver Lining Here
This is sad news. I love Silver Lining. I had a truly fantastic New Year's there this past winter, one that I will never forget, even though I can only partly remember it. The combination of sophisticated atmosphere, amazing cocktails, friendly bar staff, and live music made it a special place. — Doug on No Silver Lining Here
They were all being held up by wires from the ceiling. — Seth on Palmicide at the Winter Garden
Have you been to b flat on Church St? (White & Franklin) They have Jazz Live every Monday & Wednesday @ 8:00-11:00 p.m. Really good drinks, too! — H. on No Silver Lining Here
I believe the language on the "where in Tribeca" photo is Thai. — J Allen on Seen & Heard: Greenmarket Textile Lab
