  • Yes, 100 Greenwich is brand new as is 6 Water Street where another 29 story hotel will rise shortly. Demolition is to begin next month. The hotel is rumored to be in the Hilton family. — Luis on Seen & Heard: Duane Park Rooftop Addition

  • 99 Washington--this is the world's tallest Holiday Inn which has topped out. 111 Washington--this is still a vacant lot, although it looked like they might be doing something there soon. It was the staging area for the WTC security garage until recently. 50 Trinity Place--still a vacant lot. The one in the LMCCC story is different. They've been hauling stuff out of it for a few weeks, including some massive wooden beams a few days ago. — Hudson River on Seen & Heard: Duane Park Rooftop Addition

  • It's 59 Murray Street - New York Dolls. — David Cleaver on Where in Tribeca…?

  • We checked out the menu when we walked by the other days. The hostess claimed it was an "all new" place--I specifically asked if it was the same management since the previous ones there have not been good. There is so much bad karma in that location I don't know if we'll try it. — Hudson River on Seen & Heard: New Amsterdam Market on Hiatus

  • I think Miramar has opened in the space at the very end of South End Avenue next to the South Cove that used to be Kaiju and many other Asian restaurants of various persuasions over the years. I guess they have converted it to a Mediterranean restaurant, but they don't seem to have changed the decor a whole heck of a lot. Nothing has ever really worked in that space, but my fingers are crossed that this will be a useful addition to the neighborhood. — Doug on Seen & Heard: New Amsterdam Market on Hiatus

  • @Frances Perhaps she did not have up to date contact info as she did send a farewell email in February. I've copied the link: http://library.constantcontact.com/download/get/file/1112396670146-1/Tulips.pdf — una on Seen & Heard: The Butterfly and the Greek

  • I used to be a patient of Dr. Chen's. I last saw her in January of this year and she told me she was closing her practice and going to Africa to help out/practice there. — Kelly on Seen & Heard: The Butterfly and the Greek

  • Austin Chen went to live in Uganda about 2 months ago, I believe. Very strange as she never notified any of her patients , just upped and left. No email, no phone call , nothing, which I thought was very odd behavior. I'm a little irritated by it, to be quite frank. — Frances F on Seen & Heard: The Butterfly and the Greek

  • Dr. Chen either started her fellowship or went straight to doctors without borders. — Erin on Seen & Heard: The Butterfly and the Greek

  • Pastis and Baltazar have managed to maintain reputations through courting to tourists. The last time I was at Baltazar three years ago, it felt like a Disney restaurant with adults. Pastis is a flagship of the new meatpacking vibe. Enough said. — cami on A White-Hot Rumor About the Capsouto Frères Space

  • The Building just south of the corner, which wraps around this building and has entrances on Broadway and on Franklin will be more difficult to convert as it is full of artist studios and artists' residences. If it is anything like the conversion of 358, they will have to go to the sub-basement level and put in steel reinforcing beams to support any height above the current 5 stories. I assume, they will have to try to buy out these long term residents to build up, as they plan on the east side/back of the building. A nightmare to consider for those of us at 356 which has been a legal conversion since 1984 and we may be the tiny 5-story building between the 10+ story buildings around us. — Chris on In the News: Rumored Broadway Development Moves Forward

  • The site alludes to a pool-only option, but isn't explicit. That's what my wife is seeking. I guess I'll just have to get down there and speak with them. I'll also be interested to know how populated it seems. Looking forward to your first field report. — David G. Imber on A Long, Deep Look Inside the New Asphalt Green

  • I do know from a good source that McNally was looking at the space but it was unlikely due to the fact that in Tribeca you can only really do 2 seatings/night. That makes the large space difficult to be profitable with in the first place. On top of that I was told that the Sandy damage is pretty bad and quite costly to fix. — Anon on A White-Hot Rumor About the Capsouto Frères Space
