Thanks, Erik! Just bought the last ticket to the tour. I've been inside many times - but never studied it, thinking it would always be there. — Anna on In the News: Woolworth Building Lobby Tours
I have observed these smoke emissions many times and I refuse to believe that they are legal. The air on that part of Thomas becomes unbreathable and thick with soot, and the noise is defeaning. It is a disgrace that they are allowed to continue like this. — J Allen on Seen & Heard: No Hotel at 443 Greenwich

For over a decade, the community has been fighting the management of 60 Hudson Street over those plumes of acrid smoke. They come from scores of diesel generators stuffed into the building. Thanks for documenting this. Keep up the good work. — Bruce Ehrmann on Seen & Heard: No Hotel at 443 Greenwich
Hmmm....interesting....Why has Brendan gone so, sooooo silent? Doesn't Novogratz have anything to put forward other than a lot of parky-park b.s.? — Buzz on The Proposed Hudson River Park Tax: A Response
I've never eaten at a Denny's, so I don't know quite how to react to that, but I really hope it's not another 7-11. I've mentioned this before, but in Japan, where I spend a fair bit of time, 7-11 is really very lovely and full of decent to good stuff, including well-prepared fast foods, all on a higher level than your average NYC steam table deli. Also, the personnel are trained to be especially kindly and efficient. I realize that the J version is essentially a different species of 7-11, but the ones that have popped up around our neighborhood are pure crap and depressing, and there are already way too many of them. Another one? — David G. Imber on In the News: Denny’s or 7-Eleven?
Erik, maybe we ARE the same person. I recognized it as i-Plaza too. I guess the NY Post doesn't realize you don't get the disposable paper slippers at "fancy" spa salons. I have spotted Demi Moore pedicuring at Yuya on Greenwich St. I suppose the celebs don't have an assistant to make advance reservations at the good places. — StrollerlessTribecaHottie on In the News: Denny’s or 7-Eleven?
Definition of vote from oxford online dictionaries... noun a formal indication of a choice between two or more candidates or courses of action, expressed typically through a ballot or a show of hands. — Jennifer on The Proposed Hudson River Park Tax: A Response
Dear A.J. Pietrantone: Please do tell us your logic for not including an electronic vote "no" option against the NID tax on your website. — Ariane on The Proposed Hudson River Park Tax: A Response
Best place for a cup of coffee if you've got a kid at NYC Elite and need to get out of the noise and sweat for a second - this coffee shop is just two blocks south. A blissful oasis - with Wifi! — M. M. on First Impressions: Crave Espresso Bar
I love these historical stories of New York's architecture. As a city that is always on the move, always renewing, to be reminded of the beauty and innovation that they represented at the time of their construction, and still today, I find it gives us a sense of grounding for the tomorrows to come. I can see the top of the Woolworth tower from my West Village apartment. Overshadowed by larger buildings but even from that distant it rises into the New York sky and holds its own. Would love to see this exhibit. Thanks for posting. — Tony Sargent on What I Learned About the Woolworth Building
This warms my heart. I worked there for 15 years before they closed their doors. It will be with me forever. Would like to go and see it and this will revive the past. — Rose on What I Learned About the Woolworth Building

Dear A. J. Pietrantone, Perhaps your website could also accommodate an electronic option to vote against the NID (similar to the affirmative vote now possible) to allow for an easier and transparent tally of residents for and against the initiative? Thanks. — Rick on The Proposed Hudson River Park Tax: A Response
@Mike: Indeed! I was walking up Church and had to wait for one part to be wheeled around the corner from Leonard, and when I said to the worker who was making me wait that I could've beaten the crane, he said, "You don't wanna get hit by that." (I agreed.) Here's a photo of the crane from earlier today: https://tribecacitizen.wpengine.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/56-leonard-tower-crane.jpg — Erik Torkells on Seen & Heard: Asphalt Green Has Electricity
They assembled the tower crane for 56 Leonard over the weekend. Pretty cool to see up close how they do that. — Mike on Seen & Heard: Asphalt Green Has Electricity
Isn't it great to have readers with encyclopedic memories of Tribeca's history? — Andrea on Seen & Heard: Asphalt Green Has Electricity
Did Kutshers install brand-new equipment, or were the ovens, mixers, retarders, etc. still there from the mid-1990s, when 186 Franklin was Tribakery and there was a retail bakery operation at the front of the store with a lunch-service deli behind.* If Kutshers would bring back the pretzels that Tribakery used to make, I'd be much more inclined to visit it. *This was before many of Tribeca Citizen's readers moved into the neighborhood: before that space was Kutshers, before it was Mai House, even before it became Zeppole, that space was a wholesale and retail bakery supplying all Myriad restaurants with terrific breads, rolls, cakes, and such. Everything old is new again, eh? — Suzanne F on Seen & Heard: Asphalt Green Has Electricity
I speak as a long time TriBeCa resident but not a customer of Fresh Direct. I believe FD has every right to make their deliveries and set up shop so to speak on various streets during their delivery times. By having one truck stay parked while the delivery people make their deliveries cuts out numerous trucks, more pollution and more traffic/parking problems. The delivery people in my experience are polite and keep busy until they are finished Healthy competition allows for this situation and FD should not be penalized because of it. Such is life in the city...there is always something. — Lisa on “Spider-Man 2” to Film in FiDi
Thanks so much for posting about this exhibit. As you say, who doesn't love the Woolworth building! I live directly across the street (from the museum) and probably would have missed it, but now will make sure i get there. — Christine on What I Learned About the Woolworth Building
