We actually refer to him as an urban camper, given how well-outfitted he seems to be. Very nice guy -- I always say hello and wave/nod to him, and he does the same. I've offered to get him help in the past and he assured me he's connected with the church, etc., and has what he needs. Many years ago on a cold night I went down there to give him some of the chili we had made. He asked me if it was vegan. I asked the cops where the coyote would end up. the regular cops had no idea. the animal control cops were busy getting the coyote in the crate and weren't talking. But, I have to assume it is checked out (one cop said rabies is a concern) and then released in an appropriate place. — .c c on Coyote tries to lace up at the Brookfield Place skating rink

It is absolutely preposterous that this project has taken five years and counting. Five years! Ground zero was rebuilt faster than this work on one or two small city blocks. Half the time nobody is even working on the site and it is apparent that there is zero sense of urgency to complete this work. Meanwhile, the construction has been a tremendous eyesore and has addded traffic as cars snake through the street like an obstacle course. The fact that our local representatives and politicians allowed this to happen on their watch is an embarrassment. It reaks of mismanagement and probably corruption. — William on Nosy Neighbor: What is going on with the construction on Greenwich?
A coyote wandered around West Street in 2010, I spotted it around Chambers St but it was reported from the Holland Tunnel and a number of other locations. — David on Coyote tries to lace up at the Brookfield Place skating rink
Gucci, Ferragamo and right now bottega venata all closed/closing Brookfield/their below canal locations, ie., if nyc is going to let fakes be sold here you can’t sell real along side it = it damages the legit brand. And, whatever ICE and Trump Admin can do to move illegals and among them the stolen goods sellers (canada goose and some LV there isn’t fake, it’s stolen = it’s still got security tags on it they show as proof !) … — SF on Illegal vending on Canal Street: “It’s a constant churn.”

Don't think it's the dog walkers, I have seen them picking up after their dogs. I think it's the rich entitled snobs that don't think they should pick up their dog's poop. Working on Church St, I have to be careful going out to lunch and coming/leaving work. Absolutely disgusting! I wish the responsible dog owners and residents of Tribeca would call out their nasty neighbors! — Benjamin on Seen & Heard: Chip City is temporarily closed
The dog poop is really bad. But even worse in other parts of NYC - saw a photo of a Bronx sidewalk which had poop all over. Yesterday saw a neighborhood resident (don't know her - just see her around) let her dog pee on a school. It is especially incredible to see the disregard and entitlement in neighborhoods where people are educated and affluent and claim to care about issues like the environment. (Also, dog poop on the street ends up in waterways - not good) It is DT attitude - do whatever I want and whenever and screw anyone else. — lisa on Seen & Heard: Chip City is temporarily closed

All an annual fee would do is give them "justification" to leave it. "Well, I'm paying for someone else to do it so why should I clean it up?" How about some aggressive fines? — Makes You Go Hmmmm.... on Seen & Heard: Chip City is temporarily closed
One beautiful thing about the Tribeca Antique Garage was that the lovely staff would let a party sit and nurse a few drinks over conversation for hours, as there were usually tables open. It was one of the best places around to bring clients/visitors from out of town. Lovely and unpressured, and the food and drinks were at a high level. Of course, those open tables were a problem for them, but they never let it affect their hospitality. — mulciber on Antique Garage Tribeca closed months ago
Dog owner here. I agree and am appalled at the condition of our streets. For a long time, everyone was so good about picking up after their dogs and all of a sudden it just stopped. Greenwich St between Harrison and Chambers is especially disgusting. Please, please respect our neighborhood and neighbors. Dog owner here. I agree that we have an awful problem that does seem to get worse when there is snow present. I don't think it's the dog walkers. I think it might be the nannies and kids who really don't relish the job (not that I do!). The annual license fee noted above for clean ups is not a bad idea. Another one would be to have the local doggy day care centers clean up at least around their locations, as they profit from dog walking. I also want to second the comment about selfish dog owners bringing their dogs into Whole Foods, hiding behind the "service dog" protection. It's not just that dogs are dirty and sometimes use the store floor as a bathroom; it's that they take up a lot of room and block shoppers from shopping. Sometimes they get into little skirmishes with other dogs as well. I saw one guy with two large German Shepards in the checkout area recently. (Obviously no one needs two service dogs, so he was blatantly just being a jerk). People with shopping carts and strollers were trying to navigate around the dogs and someone ended up stepping on one of their tails. Perhaps Whole Foods should have a dedicated line for people with dogs that they are required to use. I bet the dog owners would start leaving them home. — Elizabeth on Seen & Heard: Chip City is temporarily closed
