  • I’m so, so sorry to hear this - - Artion was the ‘real deal’! Amazing Greek delicacies - Funny - I live on Hudson St and just 2 days ago made a reminder note to go to Artion - - this is sad news indeed. — Susan P. Johnson on Artion Cafe on Church has closed

  • Whisper or yell - If you live next door and have concerns, the ONLY place where the public can be heard is at the Community Board due to the new City of Yes rules. This action does not require affordable housing and so highly doubt there will be ANY but you can ask when they go there in March. — TMK on New plans for 65 Franklin at Broadway

  • I picked up sandwiches at their original location several times. They are insanely delicious! Really good flavors, lots of options. No more boring sandwiches for me! So glad they are in the neighborhood now. — Lisa on Sandwich shop coming to Church and Duane

  • Loving Nonna Dora's! Great food. Amazing staff. Wonderful vibe. Took me this long to set foot in that corner building since losing Andy of Tribeca Kitchen to covid (he was one of the first to pass from it here in our neighborhood). And now Nicola is our lovely host (of course Nonna is the star). It's becoming our go to place once a week at least. Can't wait to see the pasta factory!!!! — Amy S on Seen & Heard: Local preschoolers get their own podium at City Hall

  • You must be new here. Welcome to Tribeca. — Thomas Hagen on New Kid on the Block: Toby’s Estate Coffee Roasters

  • This makes me miss Tribeca's original and best source of soft pretzels on Greenwich Street: Pennsylvania Pretzel Co! It's been 25+ years and I still crave their cinnamon sugar pretzel. — Elizabeth on Seen & Heard: Playgarden now has immersive French

  • If anyone from Toby's reads this: love your new cafe but please bring the price of a tea down! $5 is wild for something that was served to me in the tiniest cup I've ever seen. Higher prices for quality coffee makes sense - a small price to pay when it's made as carefully and thoughtfully as they do - but a $5 teabag + hot water is just out there. — Elizabeth on New Kid on the Block: Toby’s Estate Coffee Roasters

  • I've been twice now and I'm in love. Coffee is faultless. I had the eggs and labneh dish you pictured above and it was divine. I asked about their hours and they said 6:30a-4pm weekdays, and then I think he said 8a-5p on weekends. He noted those were tentative though, and they're testing demand for staying open later, potentially until 7. Also, they were so kind, insisting I push two table together to fit my laptop with my food and coffee. Looking forward to becoming a regular. — Bree on New Kid on the Block: Toby’s Estate Coffee Roasters

  • Amy G, i agree with you!! Where is Chris Marte? Why isn't this blasted on every news station? This Mayor did state in his campaign that “rich, white neighborhoods” (his words) were over served and under taxed. This is a grade school, they really going to allow him to go over a judge ruling and place this shelter attached to it! No words. We are doomed with him in office. — downtown neighbor on The city will open the shelter next to Peck Slip School

  • The derogatory phrase used, probably inappropriately, to describe your sentiment is "pearl-clutching". Those who esteem the sort of "shock above all" communication their commercial site employs get a chuckle out of that. (The site also features a brooch with a picture of Roman Polanski. Aren't we naughty?) Believe me, they don't expend a lot of mental energy on this stuff, and neither should you. It's more easily purged by indifference. — mulciber on New tenant for Taylor’s building

  • While I agree there may be better places, it does seem the judge's order blocking the shelter in August 2025 was until "further documentation" was submitted. The new administration seems to have submitted documentation as per the court order, so that's why it is now able to move forward. Another lovely downtown publication has some more on this topic: https://www.ebroadsheet.com/we-were-blindsided/ — Amy G. on The city will open the shelter next to Peck Slip School

  • Wow, straight to the blatant racism. Well done. — Cd on The city will open the shelter next to Peck Slip School

  • Is the Social Democratic First Muslim mayor already showing his lack of judgement or ability to handle any real life crisis? — R. on The city will open the shelter next to Peck Slip School

  • Here’s a thought… STOP with the low barrier shelter and the story wouldn’t you rather have them in the shelter than in the street because where do you think they are hanging out all day. How about shelter have rules and people need to contribute - like clean the place. My second thought - find a place not next to a school. There are tons of other places. — Bernice on The city will open the shelter next to Peck Slip School

  • And I know for a fact, this guy knows his coffees!!!!! :) — Amy S on New Kid on the Block: Toby’s Estate Coffee Roasters

  • I was curious about the new shop's name, but after visiting their website, I was deeply disturbed. The site features graphic imagery, including videos of a man pointing a gun at a woman. It feels incredibly out of touch and inappropriate for a clothing brand to use such violent marketing. Given our current social climate, seeing this kind of imagery move into our neighborhood is genuinely upsetting. — Cristina Brandi on New tenant for Taylor’s building

  • The coffee is excellent. The renovation IS beautiful, albeit not entirely "cafe comfy". But the chairs by the window are luxurious and offer great cityscape views while you enjoy a Guji espresso. Tribeca wins. Thumbs up. — KC on New Kid on the Block: Toby’s Estate Coffee Roasters

  • Coffee is outstanding the Waffles and Eggs mediocre. wouldnt get breakfast but would deffo treat myself to a nice flat white. cheers — Cofefe lover on New Kid on the Block: Toby’s Estate Coffee Roasters

  • This is an appalling slap in the face to the local community that worked with local leaders, engaged the judicial system and halted this process. To place these severely disturbed individuals next to an elementary school is going out of the way to invite problems. The Mandami admins disregard for the community in an obvious effort to save face on its disastrous homeless policies that resulted in 17 deaths in two weeks is just a taste of what’s to come. He clearly stated in his campaign that “rich, white neighborhoods” (his words) were over served and under taxed. The Seaport district voted for this. You reap what you sow. — Tribeca Sanity Association on The city will open the shelter next to Peck Slip School

  • when is this location going to stop being used as a migrant shelter? they literally - still ! - across street from it's entrance use scaffolding of that whole block to chain up not only their bikes (on both sides of the sidewalk so people can only walk through single file in 1 direction) but also card tables (they seem to use for an open air bodega and day care center), grills, huge water cooler jugs. Once I heard someone who seemed to also be a migrant but like their 'rep' telling the people living there and pointing out the bikes, tables, water judgs and BBQs locked to teh scaffolding. — FS on Radisson at 52 William to be used by the city for a migrant shelter

  • Gerry do you remember the last of the coffee roasters and warehouses? And that great restaurant How’s Bayou? It was so great to be down there back in the day. There was a little Italian place opposite where Citigroup is now and the building hadn’t been built yet and there was a big pit filled with water. It was like another world! — John Gallagher on New tenant for Taylor’s building

  • Yes, the lemon pepper proved to be quite tasty on both pita crackers and Wasa crisp bread. So much so that the 8 oz, which had seemed like a giant portion only a few days ago is now gone (and there are only 2 of us). — Nicole Vianna on New Kid on the Block: PopUp Bagels

  • As expected (and from previous experience with their original locations in Williamsburg and West Village, both of which became Partners Coffee), the coffee is terrific. This is a real third wave coffee bar with meticulous technique (they weigh the beans to a precise amount when making espresso and pour overs, for instance) and baristas that seem well trained. From a taste perspective, the espresso I tried on the day it opened ran circles around anything available nearby (Laughing Man, Jack's, Meadow Lane, all of which are extremely mediocre). Welcome to the neighborhood, Toby! — Barry Wacksman on New Kid on the Block: Toby’s Estate Coffee Roasters

  • How Tribeca has changed I started my career fresh out of college in 1983 I recall mostly factories butter & egg which are now highly desirable lofts Montrachet opened shortly thereafter there started the rein of Drew's empire Tribeca Grill Nobu Tri bakery Zeppole I miss Frank Crispos pork braicole Success came early for me at Citigroup Glad I kept my loft on Thomas Street I will be returning in the fall having spent the last 35 years in CT raising the family Looking forward to my return & curious if the people I knew are still around the best to everyone. — Gerry Post on New tenant for Taylor’s building
