Yes, same location where parking lot was. — Ben on An update on the Warren Street Hotel
Is this going to be where the parking used to be ? Great add for the neighborhood and for Warren Street!! — Carlo on An update on the Warren Street Hotel
What a great space! Too bad I won't be part of it! — Jean Leng on BNY Mellon seeks to eliminate the public lobby space at 240 Greenwich
I regularly make a left turn onto Reade from Church and I think it’s probably the most dangerous thing I do now that they moved the bike lane to the west side. The bulb out that was built when the bike lane was built seems to put the part of the bike lane near Chambers into a partial blind spot but the speed that electric bikes and scooters are going allows them to move from there to near the Reade corner in the same amount of time it takes to check that no pedestrians have suddenly started to cross from the north. I’d avoid it entirely but if you need to get to Reade between Hudson and Greenwich from West St, it’s either that corner or the alignment hell of the “cobblestones” on Varick below Canal or Greenwich below Vestry. — N on In the News: E-scooter rider critically injured
I've been the lead security guard for the Tin Building. I'm usually at the front, sometimes startling people with a "Hi, welcome!" greeting. To tell everyone person who brings their dogs in, has been a difficult task, and to even enforce it; at this point, when I've told the owners that only service dogs are allowed in, they all say, "well, my dog is a service dog," when clearly their dog isn't. I am taught to not make a scene about it, and I don't stress myself out about it. It makes my job more challenging, but I still love greeting people as they come in! And JG doesn't like paper signs on his windows, but it's my job to work around that. — Michael on First Impressions: The Tin Building
Great to have another vegan spot. Thanks for listing. We'll be glad to check it out. — Marcus on New Kid up the Street: Jerrell’s BETR BRGR
The dogs are a wonderful addition! — Dana on First Impressions: The Tin Building
Nice place but dogs everywhere big and small! Would be nice if they didn’t let customers in with dogs on leashes… but no effort. Why? Hard to justify sitting down for a nice meal inside with big dogs in the aisles, against your leg, searching for crumbs, etc. — Jim Woof on First Impressions: The Tin Building
I agree that the food is decent. But it is quite pricey for what it is. I think they would do better if the food was better value. Unfortunately, when I was there, the place was empty aside from my table. Hope they can adjust and become successful — Ted on Seen & Heard: More tacos and other restaurant news
Thanks very much. Our apartment windows look straight across Warren Street into the hotel. One interesting development is that we now get much more light -- the afternoon sun reflects off the hotel windows. — Don on An update on the Warren Street Hotel
The building is open but all the signage and staff indicating this was a shelter are gone and I live across the street so it looks to me like it is not a shelter anymore. Just because lights are on doesn’t mean it’s still a shelter — Ed on In the News: City to close shelter at 52 William
Don't love the blue window panes, but otherwise it's pretty and brings up the neighborhood :) — Nichole on An update on the Warren Street Hotel
Finally coffee in HRP! But they need to wheel that sucker down to Pier 26. — person on Seen & Heard: More tacos and other restaurant news
Good point. If we want real change, sometimes we have to bite teh proverbial bullet. No pain, no gain, and all that. But hopefully the pain is temporary and we all find ways to adjust to the changes such that everyone benefits. — Marcus on What congestion pricing will look like here
I am in a similar situation and I know others In my situation. I am very worried about the financial impact for me and my family. I live alone in Hell’s Kitchen and dealing with cancer for two years. I go for treatments, scans and many various Drs regularly. All of my Drs , hospital and radiology centers are in this zone! My children travel in from Long Island or New Jersey to take me to appointments and they already pay tolls and have to pay for garages when I’m at appointments. Sometimes I use a car service when I’m up to traveling alone. I have neuropathy from treatments so walking or taking public transport is not possible. How is this fair to people in this situation or what will they do to assist us. Moving would mean changing my entire medical team. This is so troubling and unfair! — Mary on What congestion pricing will look like here
I was really on the fence about Niou and some of her beliefs on the Middle East. Perhaps the close election will keep Daniel G. on his tippy toes. He isn't without focus and skill. I be missing my Jerry though. — TG on Dan Goldman has won the primary for the 10th Congressional District — just barely
What a shame. Four million dollars and a NYT endorsement is responsible for at least some of the votes. Time will tell what the millionaire is in it for. Niou is way way more qualified. — R. on Dan Goldman has won the primary for the 10th Congressional District — just barely
Go to File Gumbo Bar and support their and other Tribeca businesses. It's really good too! — B on Seen & Heard: More tacos and other restaurant news
Mechanicals, I am pretty sure. I added two more images to the post from previous posts -- an older rendering and the drawing from the DOB files. — Tribeca Citizen on An update on the Warren Street Hotel
I think it's a good thing to have The Warren Street Hotel in our neighborhood. It's good for the restaurants nearby and businesses. — LB on An update on the Warren Street Hotel
Do you know what the yellow structure is on the top of the building in the rendering? Thanks. — Don on An update on the Warren Street Hotel
Actually you are right. It’s going to be painful, but it’s a good point. I’ll be less angry if no carve outs except those already set happen. — Cami on What congestion pricing will look like here
Our family has had wonderful experiences here; highly recommend to others in the neighborhood looking for a thoughtful and stress-free local tailoring experience. And kudos for adding another (artistic) layer to the shop! — Reader on Reade on Old Kid, New Tricks: Shopboy
Making exemptions is a slippery slope to no congestion pricing program, so everyone arguing for exemptions is a de facto enemy of congestion pricing, even if they are loathe to admit it. Exemptions for some people mean others have to pay more, since the program is mandated by law to raise a minimum amount of money. Really, people need to grow up and stop looking for the free lunch for yourselves. No wonder we accomplish zero progress on complex, global problems like climate change. — James on What congestion pricing will look like here
In general, I am all for congestion pricing, but I hope that there are sensible carve outs. I have been trying to figure out if any local elected officials have positions that might be more reasonable - give discounts to people who already park here and pay a premium for that - give discounts to people leaving the Zone - give discounts to health care workers traveling out of borough to less accessible facilities No local politicians seem interested in this issue, which is sad. They should be organized on behalf of sensible rules the same way the outer borough politicians have organized to kill this for years. — cami on What congestion pricing will look like here
