  • Pam, thank you, thank you, thank you. It was worth (unintentional pun) devouring every word. Now I feel bad for my daily under-my-breadth grumble “how is this ever going to get done if nobody is out here working?” Too bad it will be opening in the winter. A Worth Street block party would have been a fun way for neighbors to celebrate the project’s completion. -P — The BlackSquirrel on The price of not having telephone poles

  • Mandates: good for society. Vax deniers during a global pandemic who have had their MMR and countless other vaccines: sad, and ironically pathetic — Mandates on In the News: Goldman will be strict on vaccines

  • I'm saddened to learn of Larry's passing. He truly was a personality in the neighborhood - a guy who made the SW corner of Warren and West Broadway brighter. We would exchange greetings when we saw each other on the street for years and years, and that's how I learned about his car cleaning services, which I used from time to time. R.I.P. Larry. COVID has claimed another neighborhood gem. — Jamie Propp on Larry Powell, a fixture for many on Warren Street, dies at 66

  • This one person keeps slugging woman and throwing them on train tracks yet keeps getting released due to bail reform He literally was biting a deaf woman This is insane 10am at Union Station 4/5/6 This is in the morning When is he stopped? When a woman is run over by a train 27 arrests I don’t want to be political but this is crazy I don’t think Adams is tough on crime I want the guardian angel guy only because of crime https://nypost.com/2021/09/05/nyc-woman-punched-in-the-face-by-man-at-union-square-subway/ — Sam Smith on Maud Maron will run as an independent for City Council

  • I grew up in yonkers and have seen this park before there was a real vested interest to fix it. Within the last 2 years they have been making very fast progress with all the restorations they said they were going to do and it looks great with even more to come! — Chris M on Field Trip: Untermyer Gardens

  • mandates, very sad. — Native on In the News: Goldman will be strict on vaccines

  • some rather have our city filled with crime than vote for an independent. Very sad. Just look with this Mayor has done. Time for a change. Don't care what party she's from. Criminals have more rights than us right now. Give me a break — Native on Maud Maron will run as an independent for City Council

  • Visited the garden last month. It's lovely. Our favorite is the Temple of Love. Also nice that it's free parking and free admission. — TribecaMom on Field Trip: Untermyer Gardens

  • I'm afraid not. The tree planted for Nick is completely dead. — TC on Nosy Neighbor: What happened to the tree in front of PS 234?

  • That shed has been up for way longer than that -- and I have asked the BOE for an answer on it at least 5 times. I will continue to ask -- and I will repoint the thing myself if they will let me. — Tribeca Citizen on Nosy Neighbor: What happened to the tree in front of PS 234?

  • Great to see you promo Untermyer Gardens. I did a day trip there not long after the NYT ran this beguiling story on them by architecture writer Eve Kahn, in 2012: https://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/20/arts/untermyer-gardens-in-yonkers-is-being-tended-once-again.html. The Times also ran this fabulous photo gallery by Librado Romero: https://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2012/07/20/arts/20120720-UNTERMYER/s/20120720-UNTERMYER-slide-2EU4.html. In my opinion, your correspondent overstated the difficulty of getting there, as I did, by public transportation. Metro-North's Greystone station is just 41 minutes from Grand Central, and the walk to the gardens from there is shorter than you reported, if approached directly from the west via the Old Croton Trailway, rather than going the long way via Warburton Ave as Google Maps suggests. Yes, the walk is a tad funky, not to mention uphill, but it adds to the adventure and sense of discovery. — Komanoff on Field Trip: Untermyer Gardens

  • She still "champion of open schools, unmasked kids" as her twitter bio describes? — j frank p on Maud Maron will run as an independent for City Council

  • Marte a nice guy but big disappointment. He don't care about crime homelessness. Just about defunding the police. So yes Maud! Sorry I don't want to live in an unsafe city which will be the next Cali and I am a Democrat. Doesn't matter what party we are anymore it matters about our city and the safety. Bail reform must end and now. — NATIVE on Maud Maron will run as an independent for City Council

  • I’ve been a lifelong Democrat, but Maud is the Independent person we need in the City Council. She’s got the guts, the smarts, and the common sense that is often lacking in NYC government. — Richard on Maud Maron will run as an independent for City Council

  • I didn’t find Nick’s plaque last time I passed by and was quite saddened. Glad to know it’s still there and will definitely pay a visit. — R. on Nosy Neighbor: What happened to the tree in front of PS 234?

  • Goldman made that announcement in late July...is there an update? — Marc on In the News: Goldman will be strict on vaccines

  • I’m glad someone else brought that up; the shed has been up for well over three years, yet there’s no one ever working on it. More than a year ago I tried to get an answer from the school’s office, the school’s custodial engineer, and the Department of Education. No one had a clue as to when the eyesore would be taken down, or when someone would actually be working on it, or why it is actually up there in the first place. — NdS on Nosy Neighbor: What happened to the tree in front of PS 234?
